Personally anywhere with general public involved should be a legal requirement to have a EICR!
I Also think the 'competant person' should be approved with a legal body to carry one out.
As you mentioned half the time EICRs are not worth the paper they are written on.
We're back to the same...
Thanks for clearing up. I agree... the current owner would more than likely pay a small charge for a peice of paper with 'LIM' written all over it like a lot we have come across!
That's the other issue .. current owner is not very compliant not sure they would even allow a EICR to be carried...
Thanks for that link Mike.
Only it still doesn't state whether it's a legal requirement to have a EICR (Although ideal for the property owner) ... therefore, I assume it's not a legal requirement & doesn't fall under the new regulations?
Hi All
Wondering if anyone can clarify / advise on the following situation.
Have a friend who is in the process of buying a new hotel / guest house (10x bedrooms) they have asked us if this falls under the new regulations with regards to EICRs being carried out.
The bigger picture is ... the...
Thanks both for your input. Sounds daft i know but we got the feeling on the phone that the manufacturer didn't have a clue either even though they manufactured the appliance 15 years ago. From experience I've found it depends who is on the other end of the phone to whether you get the correct...
I'm assuming the cooker is correct with specs we have been given as its over 15 years old with little information available. I agree a cooker should never exceed the maximum. The problem we have is were going on what the manufacturers have said via phone to what is their recommended...
Hi
Thanks for the reply!
I agree with what you have said with cable type & size i think we stick with manufacturers guidance & agree the best way forward is with 'HO5RR-F 2.5mm2' as the manufacturers have stated (Not a 16mm2 that the cooker engineer has implied)
I also agree that ferrules...
Hi All
Just looking for a 2nd opinion on cable sizing / breaker for a old cooker.
The customer has had a 'Cooker Engineer' out to advise that the cooker needs to be wired in 16mm cable to a cooker switch which is currently unused.
The current setup is a 2.5mm HR flex on a plug top with a 13...
Hi all!
Quick question regarding a "Zip aquapoint 3 (III) water heater" wiring.
Problem is the thermostat (part no. AQ0319) has burnt out / melted at spade connections & the power supply never tripped.
The 3kw water heater is fed by 2.5mm t+e from a 16a mcb in consumer unit then directly to a...
Hi
I Don't Touch Industrial / Commercial Electrics As I've Never Worked On The Stuff! … I Have Asked A Electrician That Does Work In This Sector (Of Who I've Never Used Before) To Wire In 2x Commando Sockets For A Customer I Have... My Question Is Are The Cable Sizes / Breakers Adequate For...
Sound a slight idiot saying it but 2nd time round looking at it...it took me all of 5 minutes to find. Whoever replaced the fuseboard had left the buzz rail uncut so both RCDs were connected together via the buzz bar. Schoolboy error and I can't believe I didn't spot it in the first place...
Right, thank you for all the comments I shall take on board what you've all said and go in search... at least I now know what I'm looking for. Test meter at the ready. Shall see what I find...:punk:
Hi,
Thanks for the reply,
as far as I know the results from another electrician were
live to live +200Mohms
live to earth +200Mohms
They couldn't find anything wrong with insulation resistance...
Hi, I have a recently installed a 9.5kw shower on a 50a mcb wired in 10mm twin and earth...cable run is 2metres to a 45a switch then from that ...2metres to a dual rcd fuseboard 100a main switch with 63amp rcd x 2 ... The shower works ok on low settings but as soon as you turn it up to Eco or...
