Hi Can anyone help ? i have a job where there is a tt supply and a swa sub main feeding a dist board with 13 final circuits , each final circuit is protected by a RCBO , all rcbos ok and not triping but the time delay trip seems very sesitive and keeps triping out , it tests ok no trip at half...
Hello guys,
I'm after a bit of advice/opinion on this one.
A customer has a plumis mist sprinkler system that needs power.
I'm planning to stick in a separate unit, 100mA time delayed rcd as he wants the cables buried. If I just stick a mcb off of that would that be acceptable? It's not a TT...
My work mate is installing a three phase supply to a detached steel building used for charging bikes/scooters. He has used 16mm 4 core SWA, with 80a switch fuse, am I right in saying the armouring wants earthing at the supply side but then an earth rod at the detached building, (it is PME at the...

Had an interesting one this week, customer assures me he's on TT, DNO days the same but i'm getting 0.13Ohms on the Ze, never seen it that low befor.
There's no 100mA RCD on the supply and it doesn't look as if there's ever been one, so with that reading i'd assumed it was a TN system... so my...
In my latest exam a question asked:
what is the maximum test current for a 100mA RCD,
50mA,
100mA,
150mA or
200mA
I think I have revised so much by brain has turned to mush! I believe the answer is 100mA but could someone please confirm?
Hi,
I am starting out as a domestic installer and would really like some of your advice please??
I went to preview a job today to replace some pendant light fittings. The customer said the CU was replaced in 2010 together with a new earth rod being a TT supply. The overhead lines come into...

Hello
Just not on the job at the moment but the builder called. He plugged his small angle grinder in to a new circuit and it took out the RCD at the supplying DB not the 30mA at local CU.
Here's the set up:
TT . 100A DNO fuse
House CU old and full so split tails into small CU with...
Just wondered...
Found 100mA time delayed RCD on a TN-S supply between meter and CU.
Not mandatory, but there's nothing to say this should not be installed is there?
I have been to a job this morning, the outside carpark lights had a fault on them, i have rectified the fault. The system is TT with 100ma rcd incomer protecting the installation.
The problem is that if there is a fault on the lighting circuit throughout the night it takes the main 100ma rcd...
My PAT tester a PAT tester seaward PAC1500xi has failing its calibration test on 100mA bonding, anyone got any ideas what the problem would be as its has solid state components. Or does any body repair these at a sensible price, been quoted £170. may need to scrap it!!
hello guys been called to a house today, Large old place with 3phase supply.
Phases into 100ma rcd then split to feed duel rcd wylex boards on each floor. The home owners have had trouble with the 100ma s type tripping but not any of the 30ma in the consumer units,i was thinking it may be a...
Hi Guys,
During a visit to a rented property on behalf of a local agent it was noted that the RCD in the split load board was 100mA. The property is a 1st floor flat, PME and the protected circuits are cooker & sockets. It's a Proteus board with a beast of an RCD that swallows up 4 ways...
Does anyone know what the tripping times for an Wylex bs 4293 100ma type s RCD are? Ive been searching the net and just keep getting more and more confused about this i know an bs6009/9 should trip within 130ms-500ms but cant make headway for the tripping times for an older bs4293 rcd.
