I have the feeling that I might have small currents running in the house. So first of all, I am considering to get a leakage clamp meter. But besides of this, I am also considering to replace the breakers with RCBO. But then the question, should I go for indivdual rcbo or just replace the main...
Hi, my question is. If I have an old wylex consumer unit with NB type 2 breakers (not 60898). Or let's say any CU for that matter. If it's protected by a 30ma RCD, will that pass the cert?. Or for example will the use of old mcbs not be up to standard. Thanks
Hi, I need to replace a Crabtree Starbreaker B32 RCBO 30mA CIRCUIT BREAKER. 61/B3230 old type which is now obsolete and can only be bought online from Ebay.
Comapring the image of the breaker online, there is a small difference to the one that needs replacing. Printed above 30mA is a square box...
Have to replace this old board for a elderly relative of my soon to be wife, British Gas have been along and used soem of the special triangle stickers to say it is unsafe - but still fitted the new boielr anyway with a FCU from the socket circuit in kitchen, as always money is the priority for...
Happy new year guys,
I installed a new Lewden CU today and all the type A RCBOs failed when tested at x5 (150mA) at the end of the circuit. However, when tested at the terminals of the RCBO they tripped in around 38/39ms. I am aware that Hager have had issues with their 61008 RCCBs and suggest...
Morning everyone, this is my first post - although i had an account years before that seems to have been lost.
Can any of you shed some light onto a situation I've come across.
I have a newly installed RCBO which is failing the x5 test with a reaction greater than 40 mS.
Now, I don't have a...
I’ve had a disagreement with a colleague on this. Installation has 100ma rcd main switch.
Some circuits (5) on this side and further 4 on the
30ma rcd side.
what is the coding for this?
My customer has some garden pole lights up his driveway, they occasionally trip one of the RCD's in his dual RCD baord (once every 1-2 years). I will fix the problem but they are in such a poor position that I feel it may happen again in a year or 2.
They are simply plugged in to a socket in...
It feeds an outdoor socket. On the comsumer unit is a 60ma Rcd and everything is covered by this.
I'm just wondering if the 30ma Rcd would trip before the 60ma Rcd trips (if that makes sense)
It's just my mind wondering about stuff, the chap who owns the house said it's never tripped out, yet...
Advice needed! Ive been to see a job for garage power, the previous electrician has taken a 4mm on a 32amp B MCB protected by a 30mA RCD. But hasnt done anything with, apart from the fact there is no protection and its T&E all straight forward. My ownly question is do i gland straight into a...
Hi All,
Just wanted to see what peoples opinion is
is installing a 30ma Split load board compliant/ non compliant under the 18th Edition or you have to use RCBO's for each final circuit?
BS7671:2018, Page 155 regulation 531.3.5.2 is a note which says on TN systems which states " Exept where...
Hi guys, I own 2 megger mft 1552 testers.
I recently found that loop readings on both testers give me high Zs readings on final circuits protected by 30ma rcds on low current.
If I select the hi current setting I get a reading I expect to achieve, but the hi current test never trips the rcd...
If I was replacing an existing light fitting in a domestic premises, making no alteration or addition to the circuitry, would I then be obligated to provide that circuit with 30mA RCD protection if it didn't already have it?
I'm getting in a bit of a muddle as to whether this is a code C3 or no code.
This is an EICR. The CU has a 100mA main switch. The lights have 100mA protection the rest of the install has 30mA protection. It is a TT.
The Best practice guide clearly says no RCD protection in this scenario is a...
I have a Siemens RCCB 5 SM1312 25A 30mA and my Fan Assisted Cooker/Grill keeps triggering it. When I first switch on it is fine then after a minute or two the RCCB is triggered and cuts the power. Someone has told me to increase the relevant breaker from 25A to 32A. Could this be a solution...
