Hello, This is the first time iv came across anything like this and i went to quote this fuseboard for a upgrade yesterday and had a look inside and did all the required testing and inspecting and said id get back to them with a date when i can do the installation but came across one slight...
Greetings,
Is this allowed?
It would appear from BS7671(17th) that the installation reference number is 8 or 9 with a reference method 'B' for determining the current carrying capacity of the cable. However, the anomaly is that table 4D5 doesn't include a column for method 'B'.
Can anyone...
hi Guys
any ideas what code you would issue (if any) for 3 phase neutral and earth circuit ran through two TW+E cables, the circuit is supplied via a 3 phase mcb (the blue of one cable is used as the L2, its ran through trunking throught its route,
i know its not good practice but is there...
My parents appear to have a twin and earth cable connecting the main switch to the CCU, it has two earths both of stranded copper, but twisted together separately. I think the Lines are 10mm2.
Anyone seen this before?
I have a reading of 5ohms when checking resistance between neutral and earth, it's a TNCS installation. Is this a little low? I checked this after finding spurious readings on a central heating boiler, whilst doing preliminary electrical checks. Any help, anyone
NEUTRAL EARTH FAULT
I would just like to correct my message title for me mucking up :13:
A guy I work with was sent to change a mains board the other week. He isolated the supply and proved it was dead, He started stripping the board out and got a zap! He checking and noticed he got 230v...

Hello everyone,
Have been inspecting caravans statics at a 200+site. The levels of ZE are 8+ ohms at the caravan hook up and it is on a TT system (the incomming mains) to 4 or 5 submain distribution points where there is a common earth rod and from there via swa using the cable core or armourmed...
I am working in a small industrial unit which is being converted into a kids go kart track the lighting is currently wired in twin and earth pvc cables clipped along the steel beams. The place needs to be tested and certificated is there any issues with wiring in twin and earth along steel beams...
I don't normally install twin and earth so need some advice. If a 10mm twin and earth is correctly sized and installed to the correct methods should it get warm. Thanks
I am just completing my first install for my forthcoming MCS assessment. It is a 690w system.
1. Am I ok to run the cable on the AC side of the inverter in 2.5mm cable (as it is only 690w system)?
2. I need to earth the array as it can be touched from a velux window. What cable size for...

TN-S system. 20m run of 4.0mm SWA to ne CU in garage, supplying 3 lights and 4 sockets. RCD protected, lights on 6A breaker, sockets on 20A breaker.
Does this need and earth rod and why?
Why is the 3rd core of SWA not effiecient?
I'm confused because reading some older posts people are...
Have been installing new 20 amp radials for socket outlets and lighting in a newly built office space in a small commercial unit. The new build office is part of a much larger building, and although it has its own CU, this in turn is fed from a 3 phase DB situated in the warehouse area, which in...
Evening,
I have a class 2 light for the bathroom, and it has its own L & N wires that go into connectors in a type of small chocbox, that go into the loft. Whats the best way/regulation to terminate the incoming earth?
Cheers
I posted the other day regarding advice on a switceh fuse for when the CU is a distance from the meter.
I've decided on using a 60amp switch fuse which will be fed with 25mm tails. From the switched fuse to the CU, roughly 9-10 meters, I have specced 10mm 2 core SWA and a 16mm earth. The supply...
Hi,
Is any body aware when LSOH SWA cable to BS6724 first introduced to the UK? Also, is anybody aware of the copper sizes that were available for the bare copper conductors used to bond installations in the circa 1960's? I am coding a PIR report and for my own knowledge I would like to know...
