Hi guys, I've got a 6mm T&E leaving the suppliers meter and supplying an old 3036 wylex in front of me and the meter is sealed. Never come across this before. I'm sure the house can handle the load but is the twin & e acceptable?
Cheers
someone said i cant use fine stranded cable underground in PVC conduit.
the "F" in HO5-VV-F stands for fine stranded.
I cant see any 17th ed regulation why it cant be used underground in PVC conduit. what do you think?
Hi,
Whilst it is not best practise, is there any harm in a 10mm G&Y cable running along the outside of a building. The cable is currently tied to existing conduit, (there is no space in the conduit to run additional cable) and is unlikely to encounter any impact in its location. So the only...
ive just gone round to a friends garage and he has armered comming into the garage but it just goes into a plastic jb with a rubber gland and then onto the ccu. surely this is against regs?
Testing a lighting circuit with a long lead, all readings R1 R2 Rn around 0.6 to.08 ohms. Adding R1 + R2 = more than 1 ohm. Is this acceptable for recording as the result or should it be less than 1 ohm. TT system.
Thanks for any advice
Is there anything against extending an existing ring which is in 2.5mm T&E (red & black) from the CU with the extension in 20mm PVC with singles (new colours). It will just be a case of at two double sockets on the ring you'll have red/black T&E one side and blue/brown singles the other...
Today the government proposed a cut to the FIT rate of over 50% on installations lower than 4kW. The current rate of 43.3p per kW would drop to 21p. Cuts proposed to FITs in other generation capacities were just as harsh. If the plan goes through, the cut-off date for the current rates would...
I'm wondering about the use of J in impact related regs?
Here's an example of its use in the BRB:
705.522.16 Conduit systems, cable trunking systems and cable ducting
…
(i) conduits shall provide a degree of protection against impact of 5 J according to BS EN 61386-21
(ii) cable trunking...
They are called amerisolar AS-5M-250w Have any of you come across these panels? A potential customer has asked my opinion about them? are they any good?
We are owed a very large sum of money by an MCS registered company that we are about to take to court as they repeatedly fail to make promised payment of monies owed.
If they have a debt registered against them are they able to continue to trade under the REAL/MCS rules.
We've been approached by a firm that wants free solar panels. We originally told them that we didn't offer this but having taken a quick look at the figures, we're looking at giving it a go.
This company has just built a new unit with a trapezoidal roof. There is enough room for a 10kWp...

I have first fixed a kitchen area all walls and ceilings plastered.
Now the owner has completely redesigned the layout of the kitchen, so I have a couple of sockets where there of no use now, one of them ends up being behind a very small hand wash bowl, do you think this will be a problem to...
ok remember being told that a RCD will provide protection against fire
however I've came across 2 situations where the circuit is protected by a rcd and a fire could of easily started.
first situation where a builder was using a wind up extension lead (not fully unwound) to feed a portable...
Just had a flick around the 'inside the back of my van forum', and observed that many seem to fill the van up and leave it that way. So I was wondering what the common approach to leaving your vehicles overnight is?
I'm consulting and teaching most of the time these days, however I had my...
