I have a light in the kitchen, its a light under the cabinets. Im currently operating at 12v at 20w drawing 1.67a. I got this by using p=iv. Now i was intending on changing to 240v at 2w and was getting 0.01a using the same equations. Now this seems odd to me, because even if i changed the 2w to...
Hi guys
Just changed a board in a 60s bungalow, and whilst waiting for the customer to find the neon trashing my insulation readings, I checked low ohms live to neutral on an old 6mm radial with 7029 drops, socket circuit. Even in my head I worked out 9 Ohms equated to 23A or about 5Kw- Not...

Hi,
I'd like to know if anyone knows any good sources to help understand amps, voltage etc better. The teachers at college haven't got in on the subject just yet. I don't yet fully understand the breakers and why different amps are needed for different circuits.
Thanks,
Anthony.

I'd like to understand a bit more about what actually gives you an electric shock. I think the more you understand something the safer you will be.
I have been taught that it is the current (amps) that gives you the shock, but this then confuses me with regard 12v equipment (lets say anything...
Hi - I've spent the last 10 year sorting out cabling for AV solutions; Home Cinemas, Multimedia, HiFi etc. Then I saw the "light" and decided to properly understand how it all really works and after many hours of study and some testing exams got my 17th, Part P & Testing + Inspection...
Could somebody please help me check my calculation for amps per phase for a 50KW total load over 3 phases and tell me what it should be.
Thanks in advance.
