I have a Square D panel for my apartment with following breakers: 1 double 40,2 double 30's and 4 single 20. One of the 20's controls a convection cooking panel, a small toaster, an 11 watt microwave, living room lights, n HDTV and my Internet. When all the above are on, during the past few...

How is it possible for a GFCI cord to fail in one outlet but not another?

I have an outdoor electrical subpanel with a nearby outlet. We've plugged an extension cord with a built-in GFCI into it , but the GFCI trips every time, with any device plugged in. When we plug the same GFCI/device into a different outlet near the house, it works fine. We've replaced the...

Afternoon folks I've been sat on a prickly fence since last Summer, contemplating if I should pick up my qualies again and seek out a position as a Mate/Improver. I took redundancy last Summer from a job I absolutely hated, yet paid well. I then landed into a role I was already doing a bit of...

    Let’s have another think

This electrical game is getting worse,in so many ways. Wholesalers are giving us Split Db’s Rcd controlled, & these maybe obsolete soon. Any DB with a Rcd AC type will not perform in the tripping time required if ... electronic equipment is being used. How come they have just only found out...

    Another celeb passed away

After Eddie large, Bobby ball and Des O’Connor, another celeb “big” in the 70’s and 80’s has passed away. David Prowse.... known to many as the man in the Darth Vader mask from the first three films, but also to some of us that were young ‘uns in the 70’s..... He was the original Green Cross...

Can I piggy back a bath fan light onto another bath light fixture?

My problem is this: I have 2 sets of Romex 14/3 in my bathroom - one going to a light fixture, and one going to a bath fan unit (both set into the attic space). I am replacing the fan unit with another that has an integrated light (which we sorely need - the existing light fixture is poorly...
