I would like to get some information on what protection is on a multi meter when accidentally testing a live circuit while the meter is on the ohms range?
I seem to be getting different sides to the argument.
One side says that there is no protection against this other than a audible warning...
Hi,
I have a coaxial wall plate that is hanging off the wall and needs replacing. How do I wire the old plate which has an IN and OUT for the two cables to the new plate with only one connection?
Thank you
Hi, recently moved into 30 year old home. We were renovating it for a few months and didn't notice this issue. 3-4 times over last month the power has gone out to the entire home, without flipping any circuits. When we've been home for it (twice) it has only lasted a few seconds. I'm yet to ask...
Hi, Trying to wire this 3phase switch as single for a table saw, told I could do this from guy at Haymans, even told 2nd time which wires to connect, didnt work, other tradie at work couldnt work it out either. have L1 and L2 and N and T1 and T2 on bottom from diagram any help please?
Hi all, with majority of new builds adopting loop at the switch for residential lighting circuits these days, am wondering if any one still bothers with junction boxes in the roof space these days?
I've wired some cable to a small 3x3 shed with 2 gpos, a 15a GPO, and a light. The shed is about 2m away from the house on a concrete slab.
The 15a gpo (4mm) is run back to the house mbox location currently coiled above in the roofspace.
The light (1mm) and gpos (2.5mm) are run to the house...
Hi All,
Seeking some thoughts on my own Omega free standing 900mm oven.
Over the past year the oven has been tripping the supplying RCBO unit.
I have replaces the rear fan forced element and thermostat but the unit continues to trip rcbo.
Does anyone have any other ideas on shot might cause the...
If one of your coworkers suffers a severe electric shock, your first instinct will most likely be to rush to their rescue. But first, pause and reflect. Because the human body is a good conductor of electricity, the charge that just travelled through your coworker could readily move into you if...
So earlier this year I obtained a large machine with a couple of 3 phase motors in it, and the rest single phase. I bought a VFD, correctly wired it up, and while the machine ran with some functions, it also reported "undervolt at source"
I had bought a VFD with a maximum output of 380 volts...
Hi guys, I'm trying to find a definitive answer on the use of 1.5mm 2C+E for power points in a transportable structure which is fed by a 15A inlet socket similar to a caravan. I have recently been contacted by another electrician who is doing the same as me (wiring up a transportable structure)...
Quick question for the average Australian Electrician (Not large company).
For normal consumer/single home dwelling:
Is the AS/NZS 3000:2018 with the latest amendments good enough
or
Did you also have to purchase AS/NZS 3008 etc ?
I used to have access to all of them via our company but now...
So, according to AS 3000
5.3.2 Earthing conductor material and type 5.3.2.1 Conductor material 5.3.2.1.1 Copper conductors Copper earthing conductors shall be of high conductivity copper and shall be in the form of— (a) stranded conductors; (b) circular braided conductors; or (c) solid...
I have a stand alone generator on site in a factory which will supply a machine rated at 900Amps. Do I need to common up N or E to the Main DB? I have an inspector coming out this week but thought I might throw this one out there?
Long shot but thought I’d try, have a lighting circuit that trips the RCD as soon as the neutral touches the neutral bar for said RCD. Bypass that and it works fine just on an MCB so would think earth-neutral fault, but doing an IR test between N and E shows as a pass (>99M ohm). So unsure of...
Hello All. I have a Westinghouse pxr6988 wall oven. It has a cutting out problem when using it in Keep Warm mode, it heats ok and stat is working. But, when I turn it off the oven goes dead, no clock etc.
The trip switch on the electrical board is not tripping. But to get the oven to work again...
