    Testing for dead

    When testing for dead why is the use of a multimeter ( set to AC volts ) NOT a recommended method? In the same vein can then a MFT als NOT be used? Test lamp is the easiest but I am just wondering what the reasoning is for the other methods not being suitable?

    neutrals at switches

    easy peasy wiring....i never used to do it, but now seems common practice...I was intending to use dp grid switches...but now ahhh, we want dimmers . No probs with the rotary dimmers but a neutral connected in the backbox. Is that bad pactice?

    how do I work this out

    A 1.5mm2 conductor has a design current of 4 a and a length of 10 meters. its volt drop is 29 mv/A/m what is the volt drop across the terminals. Can anyone show me how to work this nasty little bugger out Answers are 11.6v 17.4 v 1.16v 1.74 v

    socket in loft

    hi, if a customer wants a socket putting in the loft but they don't want there new wallpaper damaged could I drill out the wall at the back of the socket and take the cable (2.5mm 2 core + earth) outside and clip direct the to wall up to the loft?
