Hi all,
was going to buy some software to help with certification and heard amtech and easycert are pretty good but have heard now that the Niceic are going to be doing a pay per use scheme where by we wouldn't own the software or indeed the rights so no up front fees.... Could anyone tell me...
E.g. for letting agents. Does everyone go by the book, for example, 3 bedroom semi with gardens, electric shower etc. Old wooden backed wylex falling to bits, no RCDs, no bonding, metal light fittings on early 60s installation with no CPCs,
Do you,

Hi guys

Whenever I've installed a new consumer unit I normally fill out an Electrical Installation Certificate & an Electrical Installation Condition Report but someone has told me this is too much & that all I need is the Electrical Installation Condition Report. Thoughts? I was under the impression...
Hi, I have done some renovation in customer's kitchen which was changing place of few sockets. After that I certified my job. It was all included in price details before I started anything and she said ok, the price is fine, do it.
So I finished everything, asked for money and she was like...
Hi all, I'm having a discussion about the correct NICEIC Certs to produce on a job. The scenario is, we have carried out works out on a big commercial site which include full rewires on three separate distribution boards each being 18 way 3 phase, the main SWA feeding each DB has stayed also the...
My house, built in 1960, has mineral insulated cabling and a voltage operated earth leakage circuit breaker. We moved in 7 years ago (don't suppose that is relevant though :) )
Due to some rebuilding work the meter needs to be moved, and in preparation for that my electrician has fitted a new...
Hi guys
i know this has been done do death, i have searched but i've not been able to find an answer. I'm having a mental block so just thought i would ask what everyone else puts.
I am filling in a EIC for a consumer unit change. I know that i'm not responsible for the entire installation...
Our new Inspection & Testing App for iPad is now available free from the Apple App Store.
Unlike many certification apps that simply format certificates for use on the iPad, our brand new FastTest app has been created from the ground up specifically for iPad. This means it is very intuitive...
Hi All
I am carrying out work for a company and currently fill in my test certs by hand. The company have asked me to give them test certs that are computer generated. My tester is a megger 1720 so it hasnt got blue tooth. Is there software that allows me to use my tester but still fill in a...
I'm sure this has been asked before, and I have done some searching here, but not quite sure how to phrase it to search properly.
I have just completed some minor works on a property installed to the 16th, i.e. no rcd's on lighting. The client required replacement of existing ensuite lighting...
Hi, this isn't exactly the right place for this but I didn't want to post this publicly ...
I'm installing a solar-powered pump for an allotments (i.e. the whole site) and as far as I can work out there are no notifications I need to do, I've obviously kept it all to BS7671 and the 3rd Edition...
Can anyone help me regarding certification. Im thinking of starting up on my own and joining the NICEIC domestic scheme. on there website it says they need certification of jobs from the previous 12 months to show them in the assessment. How am i to do this if i haven't been able to sign work...
Okay, we've got a bit of a strange one here.
A potential customer of ours has an EPC rating of 'E', which was issued when she bought the house recently. The certificate, as standard, suggested works that would bring the home up to a D rating - none of which had been done.
Another solar PV...
I've recently passed my first scheme provider (ELECSA) assessment and I'm considering what certification software to go for, so hopefully you guys will be willing to share your experiences, I couldn't find a sticky/poll. I realise this is a regular question asked, but as technology moves with a...
Hi guys,
This is my 3rd post to the forums and concerns electrical regulations and specifically certification. I have recently had a new en-suite fitted, and the quotation included
“Electrician to supply and install new fuse spur in roof space for new shower”
“The price is subject to survey...
If a customer asks me to do a few jobs. E.g. Add some spots, add a socket and put a fan in a bathroom. As the only job notifiable to the labc would be the fan as its in a special location. Would you MW all jobs separately or all as one EIC and then let the building control deal with what's what?
I went to a job today and the customer wanted his 4 way board moved 4 inches so that he could make the cupboard smaller to fit a bigger wardrobe, if you ever. I advised the time and material it would take he might as well put the money towards a half decent custom wardrobe with the wooden meter...
Hi all - I've just had a new electric shower and extractor installed by a builder. I understand that I am meant to receive an Electrical Certificate these days, for all new electrical work done in the bathroom. The builder and an electrician came today to do the certificate, but he has told me...
