Hi,
I need a new pully-switch to turn on my shower but the Electrician said it would be against company policy to fix it,as I have an old fuse box that doesn't have the shut off element to it.Would this be right,? If so,is there no cheaper way of doing it,without a whole new fuse board please,?
I recently tried to change a light. When I pulled out the old light fitting there were 3 cables.
The light point had 2 neutral (black coloured wires) 1 going to the neutral terminal and 1 going to the live terminal
green cable was ok.
Now for the other the remain wires in those 3 cords.
There...
Hi there - good site.
Mrs wants a new socket directly below a light switch on the ground floor (says it will look neater vertically inline) spurred off the
downstairs ring, which all go up into that above ceiling/below floor space.
I gather I'm OK to do this as a (very experienced) DIYer? Or...

Looking for opinions on this guys.... I visited a rewire on a bungalow, classic build, a concrete floor slab with gap above then floorboards ( the gap is probably 45cm/18 inch) built in the 70's
the original wiring is under the floor. (except for lighting obviously!) The electrician doing the...
So you can see the high bay model number and control gear with the LED array below. DC volts coming out of the control for 100w LED is putting out circa 50 V. Polarity is correct. There is continuity to the terminals on the array. No light from the LED. Any ideas of how to test the array or...
A quick search for earth tape didn't come up with much, though this thread was of interest.
I'll start by mentioning that I've led a sheltered life and only ever dealt with PME (TN-C-S) so never had to deal with earth rods.
At our church, we've had an inspection of the lightning protection...
Just a very quick one as can't find anything that answers my question
Doing a re wire and a very old property the main incoming cables come in half way up the wall.... providing I don't run my circuit cables past them is there any reason I can't fit the consumer unit below the main fuse?
I...
so suppose i have a single-pole (first-order) low-pass RC filter that gives me a unity gain upto the corner frequency of 1536Hz and i apply a 12V amplitude sinewave to the input of the filter and i am getting a sinewave with the amplitude of 4.1V from the output of the filter
Hello,
Some advice please as I think that the flat below mine is being rewired by someone who isn’t qualified.
The small basement flat below mine sold a few months ago. I know the property was in a bad state and the wiring and electrics go back to the 1970s.
The new owner is attempting to...
I have to install a shaver point in the breeze blocks of an outside cavity wall, so would use a 47mm plaster box. The problem is that the only practical location is about two feet below the end of a window lintel (and about 4 or 5 inches in from the edge of the window recess (so under the end of...
i don't the exact value of the soil resistivity as no survey of soil sample is carried out at the site .However Copper earthing electrode 50mm diameter of 2.5 m is driven where its circumference were filled with chemical compound power to the height of rod and earth resistance was found to be...
so for my question i have been asked this:
1.Explain the terms “Bus” and “Star” as applied to a modern programmable controller system.
2. Describe, with the aid of diagrams, a network configuration that could be using to connect a programmable controller system. To do this task, select one...
I'm adding more bits to my board to mess around with and had realised that i didn't have "garage power and lighting" covered.
I understand that best practice would be a dedicated circuit from feeding property (i.e main house), connected into a garage CU with 6A for lighting and 20-32A for any...
