I am rewiring a house and I am running through just one socket on the ground floor to access the first floor ring. So the first floor ring circuit would include a socket on the ground floor. Is this wrong as I have read I the building regs separate floors, separate circuits, with their own mcb
My friends are ready to exchange their house but have been told they need to either replace the down lights in the top floor ceiling(below the loft) to fire rated spots or get smoke hats for each.
I thought top floor spots didnt need to be fire rated when the is no escape route or livable space...
Hello just been to look at a shower install the consumer unit backs on to the wall that the shower is going on so the easiest option would be to fit an isolator below the consumer unit and drill straight through the wall.
Would this be ok to do or will i have to put the isolator outside the...
Does anyone know if there are any rules, regulations or recommendations for fitting appliance sockets below a kitchen countertop?
To me, it appears that the most convenient is to have them at plinth level. Yes, I do mean that low because the vast majority of appliances will clear them...
Hi all I've just been awarded a contract for pat testing in a massive stadium. They have asked me for risk assessments and a method statement. Ive never been required to do these for any of my other clients which do include local authorities. Can anyone shed any light on these and if possible...

I know we're not supposed to test when it's below around 4degs, but there's this really vague memory at the back of my mind that says I've read somewhere that you're not supposed to install cable either due to the possibility of damage by cold fractures - - - or is this a figment of my imagination?
We are having a conservatory built and the electrics are part of the package. I was surprised to see the cables for the sockets being installed at floor level. The electrician explained that when the plaster board was fitted the wiring would be 50mm below the surface. Comments!
Can I just ask how many of you hard wire your appliances under the work tops these days or do you use the plugs ? I hard wire everything just for the fact with the 13A dp above the counter there is no need of the plug below and you don't want to have to pull the items out just to change a fuse...

All I know about this thermostat is that it is inline, and has a couple of indicator lights on it, the purpose of which I do not understand. This photo shows heat traced pipe, I think.
If it is known hereabouts on the forum, is there an opinion on its reliability and durability at all? Anyone...
