Hi guys
Does the earth Bonding HAVE to be done at the meter or can it be put on the gas inlet to the boiler in a utility room? Plans have changed and cables already run ?
Also am I right in thinking that if water inlet is in blue pvc pipe Bonding isn't required even tho it is copper on...
I’m sure this has been covered a squillion times before but advice please. EICR on block of 5 flats all with separate electrical supplies & meters. One boiler serving hot water via one system to all flats. Main bond to water and gas on entry to building. There is no bonding locally within the...
HI all,
I need to bond metal stud work on new build houses, 4mm from socket to an upright, uprights have roof baton for noggins, then socket screwed to the baton, does the bond need access for testing at all?
I'm looking into metal noggins for continuity,i think it will be better, just...
Hopefully someone wiser than me can help explain some odd measurements I’ve taken at my own home. This is a long read, I’ve tried to give as much information as I can because I suspect I’m over thinking the problem and missing something obvious that’s causing insulated pipework to have earth...
Morning all, and happy Friday!
I feel I should know the answer to this one, but I'm not certain, even after consulting GN8.
A friend of mine has a semi-detached house with two copper gas pipes entering, one for the cooker and one for the boiler in the loft. They join together outside and are...
Hi guys, sorry if this has been asked before.
I’m currently in a flat where the tenant queried the water bonding. There’s a 6mm green and yellow leaving the DB and goes to the gas meter as it’s clipped direct I can see it isn’t continuos and go to the water. There is also no other bonding...
Evening all,
I'd guess that this is a common question but haven't been able to find anything on the forums regarding the 18th.
Working in a shop and the water comes into the building in plastic, there is then 3 foot or so of copper pipe followed by plastic throughout the rest of the...
(Rented property) The current bonding under the sink is 6mm - the electrician said it has to be min 10mm in order to pass the EICR.
Is this correct? It looks like the wire has been there since the house was built and electrician said he would have to take a new one from the fuse box and somehow...
Just double checking please - in situations where the main earthing conductor csa is calculated, and in a TNS installation, the 50% bonding conductor csa rule still applies to your final calculated and rounded up earthing conductor size? (As opposed to the tabulated size)
I'm doing remedials and...
Gas bonded with 10mm at front of flat, boiler at back of flat where a 6mm has been linked from it to an extraneous cold water pipe in bathroom.
No other extraneous water pipes in flat.
All continuity good but using the gas pipe as a conductor to link to water pipe.
C3 for 6mm
C3 for non...
Hi all
Regarding bonding of cable tray and basket. Is basket required to be bonded if only data cables installed on it ? plus bonding cable tray, best method i use it 6mm brass nuts and bolts with earthing straps. But brass nuts and bolts can be expensive, will roofing bolts and nuts be...
Hello all,
First post for me, a very frustrated DIYer whos leaving in a country (Czech Republic) where its near impossible to find an English speaking electrician who knows what they are talking about.
My issue is that the company who installed our vinyl pool a few years back clearly didn't...
Hi, just wondering how other sparks, go about confirming main earth bonding continuity when supply cannot be isolated, ze and pfc can be enquired wich is fine but what happens if you cant disconnect main bonding earth, is previous test results good enough to confirm?visual checks good enough...
If bonding raises all extraneous parts in a building under fault conditions to the fault voltage. How important is bonding if the mcb is already tripping the breaker in under 0.4 seconds if a healthy system.?
Hello
I’m refitting my bathroom after in 2005 some builders did a fairly poor job of it. They even built a wall off the shower tray causing all the tiles to fail and the floor to rot. ?
My question relates to bonding. There was bonding on the hot and cold supply that went up a pedestal basin...
Hi, I have a hypothetical just trying to understand earthing arrangements and bonding.
For example if I am touching a water pipe and a socket back box with no fault occurring but a load on the socket.
I am lead to belive the neutral will rise to 230v as will the earth as they are connected...
Hi everyone I'm new to the page, just needed some bonding and parallel earth path, small issue I cant understand if anyone could help?
Thanks a lot
Sam
Hi all I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on an issue I cant seem to get my head around, say we had a metal socket earthed and a water pipe with main bonding, I touched the both of them in fault condition on socket (live touching metal box) now i understand the bonding puts the pipe...
I've come across a house whereby the redundant immersion heater circuit (15A) has had it's CPC repurposed as a means of bonding the incoming water supply in the same cupboard. Irrespective of the CPC being undersized is this, in theory, allowed or must the earth bonding be clearly identifiable...
