My first day back yesterday after furlough.
Was sent to check an unsafe situation, a floorbox whose lid was totally smashed and the face plates all buckled, but not broken or exposed.
The three compartment floorbox is set in the concrete floor and was made by Wandsworth, who no longer make...
Just wondered if anybody had problems with the above with the plastic turnscrews jamming when you try to reopen the box. Also last week, had one full of water because of a tiny split in the top 20mm membrane...
if the box is wall mounted
Does anyone poke the cable directly through the membrane hole and accept this is a good seal?
or do you generally fit a stuffing gland
?
Hello,
I'm looking for a bit of advice: does anyone have a satisfactory way of mounting DIN rail in adaptable boxes? I normally end up mounting the box, then drilling through the box into the wall behind and mounting the DIN rail that way, but it feels a bit wrong ... does anyone have a good...
Do the item number 'EC308' WISKA earthing kits fit into the WISKA combi 208 boxes (10109571)?
I've only ever used them in 308 junction boxes
thank you very much in advanced
Good afternoon
As my username implies I'm a mad collecter
I collect vintage electric items such as
Sockets, Switches, joint boxes and fuseboxes, especially from the 1930s and 1940s
Please could any electrician help me
Instead of throwing them into a skip, please could you throw them in my...
Hi all, used the wiska boxes many times but not with the magic gel, have some outside lights to do and customer doesn’t want SWA to be seen has anyone used the boxes before filled with the gel and put underground, can’t see it lasting too long to be honest as moisture and wet always find a way...
Background
I'm running some low voltage cable (e.g. CAT6A data cable; coax cable; HDMI cable and speaker cable) to a number of rooms of the house and would like advice on the best way to do this to avoid plastering the cables into the walls - to give me flexibility to remove / pull new cables...
Apologies if this is a bit of a boring one. It's purely "out of interest" as I have rather an obsession with old consumables etc (and I'm sure @Lucien Nunes will be along to tell me!)
The time finally came to replace 2x Britmac sockets. Not a problem - simply covered the existing backbox with a...
Something about the way this box is bonded feels wrong. I prefer the box to remain bonded even with the accessory removed. Is this method compliant? What do others think? (Ignore missing grommet)

Hi everyone!
I am an industrial designer working from Israel, currently working on a product that will be installed in american homes and needs to fit into a one-gang box.
I'm having trouble figuring out how common are the metal boxes out of all the home-installed electricity box...
Can anyone recommend a type of sealant that i can fill a plastic box with to totally insulate the connections from water and damp.A bit similar principle to swa joints where you fill the whole plastic joint up with some sort of compound.
I need to fill 10 outdoor boxes approx 3"x3" and 1" deep.
We have had a few threads on the forum where after installing an IP box with an IP gland it still lets in the water I have just watched the latest efix youtube video with a good IP SWA gland so that you don't get the ingress of water between the two IP components of the gland and the box worth a...
Quite like these, for various connections, hate the connectors inside though.
Wondering would you use compression glands on entry for flexes or pierce through the sealing membrane../neoprene to seal/hold the cable.
I was contemplating cutting a hole in the bottom of a meter box and I decided to have a quick check on line. I have now used an existing hole albeit a harder route. How common are meter boxes with asbestos in them? Is there any way of knowing if it contains white asbestos?
Hi all,
A question that I’ve seen come up a few times on here & other forums is can you get plastic flush boxes? Usually to replace rusted galv boxes in damp walls.
Has anybody used the MK Egatube conduit system? They have plastic flush boxes as part of the range & I’m on the look out for...
I’m looking for some metal clad sockets. But I need 25mm knockouts. Does anyone know any surface mounted metal clad sockets that have them? MK do some nice ones but they are only 20mm knockouts.
