Hi all,
I've just moved house, and have found that the new place has a more traditional thermostat than my previous Hive setup.
I'm aiming to replace the existing Potterton Mini Minder E and British Gas RS1 for a Google Nest Thermostat.
I'm in the 'plan and investigate' phase of thinking...
Any lads in here from British Gas? A friend of mine is a gas engineer there and suggest it to me as an Option. Just thought I’d see if anyone here had any input.
thanks in advance
Am at a house today to change the board prior to other works.
Old rewireable board upfront RCD no earth. the earth from the incoming cable was short and just sitting in free air. Had DNO to attend to pull fuse as cutout was old and seal fairy was on holiday!
British Gas still fitted a brand new...
I have a customer with a bg smart meter. The meter has £16 credit but no power coming out of meter to consumer unit. Anyone had issues like this? Trying to get to speak to a bg advisor is a nightmare. Help please :)
Firstly I don't know if I'm allowed here as I am not an electrician
I have a question though....
Just had british gas out here to service my boiler
He refused to carry out service because voltage stick glowed when he touched the casing on speaking with another gas engineer he tells me that as...
I received an email today telling me about this 'scheme' from British Gas called local heroes, basically they advertise and customers ring up or contact them to get jobs done. The advantage is you are making use of the British Gas brand ( i know some of there service is down right poor mind)...

listening to Absolute radio today and this advert caught my attention....Has any one signed up to it? Having the British gas badge attached to it could be a good thing as its known they charge a premium.
Just been looking at a family members house and electrics; about 2 years ago the Gas Board moved their meter from under the stairs to a box outside. Anyhow they have not run any bonding to the meters new position and have bonded onto a gas pipe not far the original meter position, which is where...
OK, so I'm not a plumber but have a fairly good idea how this system works. I'm not alone with this problem either, there has been a similar post but it's old and doesn't have a resolution - though they have a temporary fix that doesn't work for me...

I have done a few of these jobs for the same client. Install a 315a fused TPN isolator in their new heating centres. All the others I have done UKPN have bought in a PME supply so I have just mounted the fused isolator with tails into the CT chamber ready for me to do the follow up at a later...

Hi just wondered if anybody knows how long it takes to get from talent pool to an actual job at British Gas. Also does anybody know if they are a good company to work for.
At the moment I'm unsure which direction to go in. I have just been put in talent pool for British Gas and also I have just...
So I was following a van to work today which said 'British Gas Approved Builder'
Not something to brag about I thought. And what do British Gas know about building.
This is what I found at a rewire I'm doing just now. The cable in the picture is for a panel heater that is part of an electric heating system installed 3 years ago by BG. The strange thing is the red/black cable was long enough! They must have been making it look as if it had been rewired!!
installed for a customer who has just sent off application for BG via email. He has had a automated email suggesting that they will respond to applications within 28 days - missing off the end of the month cut off.
Previous customers with BG had a very quick turnaround and i don't recall any...
So my mother in law has had BG round to service the boiler and as part of the service they now carry out a check on the earthing.
My mother in law informed me that the BG engineer went round the sockets in the house with a meter and wasn't getting a earth reading at the sockets.
I've gone...
Just seen advert on TV saying British Gas are upgrading all their customers to smart meters to monitor usage on Power, Lighting, Heating etc,
Can anyone tell me how they work?
e.g. are they linked to consumer unit somehow? without ammeter's on each circuit how can they differentiate between...
