Just watched a video by J Ward covering parts 1,2 & 3, any thoughts on the consumer unit, this being a Type Tested Assembly, where if non compatible Mcb’s are used it does not comply & does not remain a Consumer Type Tested Assembly.
No mention of what it becomes though, so what happens next...
Hi All,
Can anyone shed any light on why the note from indent ii) of regulation 702.410.3.4.3 has disappeared in the most recently published version of BS7671?
I quote;
"NOTE: Where a PME earthing facility is used as the means of earthing for the electrical installation of a swimming pool or...
I just had a look on the IET 'Model forms' site and looked in particular at the new EICR including Amendment 2 - looks like it was only added today ?
Well guess what - it's more long-winded than ever with the test results schedule now spread over two pages. Don't get me wrong I'm all for doing...
I am doing a non-compliance document for college. I have to find non-compliances whilst on site. I have seen an Intruder Alarm where the PVC Flexible cable is brought through bare metal, so no grommet is fitted. Can anyone tell me what part of BS7671 this would fall under and the definition, please?
Thanks to being quarantine for a week i finally managed to have a go at the the practice exams in the course and i have a few questions for the more knowledgeable of you as im wasnt entirely sure of the correct method to get to the right answer. Thanks for any help in advance:

I fancy a bit of fun, but in a way to benefit us all. The idea is simple; A reg number is posted and the next poster has to give their interpretation of the reg AND what they believe the regs intent to be.
From a trainee, it may be hard to truly understand why a reg is worded the way it is and...
In a quiet moment I am looking at something that has been in my mind for some time. Regulation 433.1.1 includes the phrase "The current (I2) causing effective operation of the protective device is given in the product standard or may be provided by the manufacturer" I assume that the product...
Hi folks, doing an EICR yesterday and I came across a domestic boiler, installed in Feb this year, it has been wired to the FCU in 0.75mm CSA flex. The FCU has a 3A fuse. Obviously this is bull and the plumber/installer needs to come back and use the right darn cable. Meantime I am about to type...
For those that are interested ammendment 2 got released earlier today..

From a quick glance it looks like we will be installing AFDDs for AC final sockets and final circuits upto 32amps with the exception of some safety...
Hi All
Just wondering if the installion method of band 1 cabling is covered by BS7671?
I'm pretty sure it isn't but just been told that alarm conduits have to be secured with metal fixings. Just need to find some evidence in the regs to support this.
Cheers
Hi All,
Thank you for welcoming to this forums
I just want to clarify that the Value I need to enter 100% or 80% in the last column "Maximum Zs Permitted by BS7671"
is it 80% from the table 41.3 from 18th Edition Regs - Page 62 or the value from Pocket Guide 18
Thank you

Hi, I'm Dave and I was wandering if I could have help with something.
If I were to wire a 5KW motor what means of protection should be incorporated into the inverter for compliance with BS 7671?
Thanks! :)
