I would like to reuse a 10mm cable to provide a ring circuit in an area. The cable is currently used for an electric shower, still connected at present and is fine. When the shower is removed I intended to replace the 40A breaker with a 32A, slightly reroute the cable and add a ring to then...
The electrician that installed my cooker circuit put in 10mm cable with a 32a fuse, a 45a cooker switch and 10mm cable to the backplate for behind the cooker. He put this size in as I didn't know what size cooker I was going to be getting.
I ended up getting a 7.4kw range cooker and the...
Some advise or views would be appreciated.
My supply is 100 amp single phase.
I purchased my property 3 years ago or so, the owner prior to the couple I purchased it from had installed a single external 32 amp socket near to the kitchen back door.
The cable to this socket is easy enough to...
i want to run a something like a BX cable from a sub panel in my garage through an adjacent crawlspace to a fish tank in a room just the other side of the crawlspace. total length is 40-50ft. i'd like it to carry two 20A circuits which would be connected to outlets in the cabinet under the tank...
Strange on this, we are wiring an extension at the moment and I would like to 3 way the (currently 2 way) landing switch to the new bedroom so there is a switch near by for the stairs. The property was supposedly re-wired when the couple bought the place about eight years ago but after hearing a...
I've got a Fluke 2062 cable tracer. Cracking bit of kit, but very expensive, and isn't getting used very much. I might be open to renting it out. If you need to trace a break or short, this could save you a lot of time. I traced a N E short to a pin in a picture rail that had been there about a...
Hi all,
Hope this thread is still going.
I had to cut my stereo antenna cable, so need to reconnect with another cable.
I am unsure as the best way to do this as there seems to be differing views.
Do i crimp the cable or solder? Guy at Jaycar told me to solder but lots of comments on google...
Hi everyone, I intend to bury a 240 volt cable from my house to my barn about 7 metres as way. It will be buried under my tarmaced drive which I own but my neighbour has access over this drive. The supply will be in a plastic conduit about 40mm in diameter. My neighbour will complain if anything...
Trying to find an armoured cable behind plasterboard and studding.
It was used to supply power from the house but has been disconnected
Can someone suggest a probe or device to find it.
There are screws in the PB and copper pipes on the ground behind the PB and twin core for sockets, but I know...
Hi, thanks for reading this.
Ive been asked to look at a job where the DNO connection (single phase 80A TT) is a long run to the final circuits. Small feeder box has been installed and the volt drop dictates 95mm cables are needed to take to another feederbox where the feeds into the building...
Seen a couple of videos with Doncaster cables now producuing a T&E with the CPC already sleeved so no need to fit our own.
I also read somewhere that this will soon become the norm and will have to be installed to comply with the regs instead of the regular cable.
Any truth in that?
Hi,
I have a coaxial wall plate that is hanging off the wall and needs replacing. How do I wire the old plate which has an IN and OUT for the two cables to the new plate with only one connection?
Thank you
Im running a ring main for all my sockets using 2.5 cable....as an after thought i was thinking to spur off one of my socket outlets and run up the wall and along a wooden beam...probably no longer that about 4 meters? for a ceiling fan.....this isnt the aircon mentioned in another...
I am replacing some of the old receptacles in a 1940s house. Armored BX cable, two conductors, cable is the ground. Mostly pretty straightforward.
One box contains a problem. Two cables coming into the box. Black and white from one cable attached to the receptacle. Other pair taped up.
The...
So was on a call out today and cooker circuit kept tripping the RCD. Disconnected at the board and at the cooker switch and IR’d the cable and received the following readings:
L-E: 200
L-N: 999
N-E: 999
Everything’s good, reconnected at the board and re-tested the cable going back to the board...
Sorry, an odd question . Does anyone have any experience of these. Would the steel 100mm hhvy duty type be strong enough to support wheeling an ebike over (say) 5feet onto a towbar bike rack ??
