Hi all,
I am working on my revision for the 2396 exam and wanted to see if someone brainier than me could advise, when completing the thermal constraints equation t=(k²*s²)/I² on a ring circuit do you input the ring for s² as (2*2.5)².
Example1 :
Fault current 211A
t= (115² * 2.5²)/ 211²...
It is a 6.5kW thermostatically controlled water heater if you ignore the rest of the gubbins.
So that would be a Purpose #6 for diversity ie: None allowed. = 28A.
But you could treat if like a cooker too. Purpose #3 ie: 10A + 30% FL current over the 10A. = 15.4A
What do you think?
Thanks
can anyone tell me if this is a correct way of thinking
i have 6 Cleaners outlets off a !6a rcd, total run length is 55m
6mm feed to first point is 30m would give me voltage drop of .78% (using half the breaker load according to exception 1 on page 163 of as 3000:2018)
then run a 2.5mm for...
I've treated myself to the IET Electrical Installation Design guide. I've been looking at section 3.5 Complex Installations. There is a calculation for calculating demand based on number of dwellings in a group.
Please see picture of relevant page.
Seems simple, sub domain is 66.44A, demand...
I'm trying to understand the different ways I can calculate or find the correct size of main earting conductor of an installation. Iv found a formula but it's quite long winded. Is there an quicker process?
Here is what I have at the moment after doing some research and practice
This may sound like a daft question but in the on site guide appendix f table f6 it has many different reference methods of installation of twin and earth. it has :
above plasterboard ceiling covered by thermal less then 100mm
above plasterboard covered by thermal more then 100mm
stud wall...
Hi guys just looking for a bit of help / advice
i have a 100amp 3 phase isolator tap off connected to a rising bus bar.
im installing a new 16 way 3 phase DB approximately 55 metres away from the isolator.
it will be wired in 4 core armoured on tray, and on its own located with in a ceiling...
Hi Guys,
Can someone please confirm for me the cable size required
120m length, 63 amps, voltage drop 2%. three phase. Does not have to be SWA.
I think it should be 25mm but would like a second opinion please.
Thanks in advance
Hi guys im having a brain storm of absolute brain death.
Fire alarm Loops of around 600m and 500m Give or take FP 200 1.5mm (1100m Total cable not accounting for Cutting to much cable etc)
My problem is this, the 2 Loops of cable gave me a resistance Value of about 3.07ohms cpc to cpc and...
Going through a ring main design calc for a course I’m on to determine c.s.a of ring final conductors.
As we don’t know the load current for circuit we assume this to be the rating of the overcurrent protection device. I.e 32a.
Only correction factor I need is grouping factor which is 0.45.
32 /...
Hi am currently employed as testing and inspection on a industrial site just wondered if you could give me some advise
What it is I got a 110 kw motor 180 amp 100 m run full load now I got a 75 mm cable supplying it . I have checked table 4d4a in the regs as it is 3 core armoured . Ref method E...
I just want to see if colleges are teaching correct methods for woking out what mcb would be needed in a certain senerio.
Please dont answer if your experienced in circuit design or if you can see what im curious about.
1. I want to choose a MCB to protect 1 x 400w high pressure sodium...
Hi everyone just a little confused,when calculating volt drop using table 4Ab do you measure the voltage of the installation and use that value to calculate or do you just use the 230 volt value
Hi all, i need the calculation applied to work out the current per phase for a 3 phase circuit.
Found a 9.1 kwatt heater on a 25A triple pole mcb (60898), so on single phase load divide by volts = amps, but this is not the case for 3 phase, any help much appreciated?????
Oh i found the heater...
Hi all im only at college training but i have just been reading a post about a cooker cable i was just wondering about this post here goes if you was putting in a new cooker circuit for a cooker (say 10kw) would u not add it up and to 43 amps and use a 40 amp breaker because it said u take 10...
Evening guys!
Was wondering if you good sirs could be of assistance?!
We are installing a 250kW PV system in the next few weeks and I need to size the feed!
The run is about 400m laid in the ground and as stated is 250kW on a 3phase supply!
Many thanks
Mark
Hi,
I need to install a supply for a new coffee machine. It is 6.9KW = 30Amps
It will be a 40mtr run
I think i have this right but my calculator is playing up a bit,
Ib = 6900/230 = 30A
In = 32A
In / CgxCa = Iz 32/0.88x40 = 0.9
Iz = 32+0.9 = 32.9A
