Hey all. Hope everyone is well.
Ok, I'm currently doing a rewire on a ground floor flat. The entire job will be done in trunking and I have an apprentice with me. Now, my intention is to run a 10mm cable to the shower as it's 9.5kw (I do this as a rule of thumb).
This is also in our company...
Hi Guys
I recently installed a supply to a 45kW motor for cooling tower.
I carried out the following calculation:
IL=P/VLx1.73
=45000/400x1.73
=45000/692
=65.02A
There was only a short run from the cabinet to the motor so a 16mm SWA seemed the correct cable
After the motor was running I...
Hi Troops,
not so much an electrical issue as an electronics one, just realised that I've dropped a hairy one with making some crimbo led display lights (for me, for home). LED driver I got isn't up to the job, and my brain has ceased to function (mixture of cider and soldering fumes).... 10...
Evening all.
This has been in the arms for a while now and I meant to post it in the open forums ages ago but totally forgot.
It's the design template I created when I did my C&G 2400 design course (C&G 2391-20 in todays money). I have tweaked it a bit to update it, regs references etc but the...
Hi guys. Was doing a cable calc and got confused with Ci and reference method 103. Are they essentially the same, but that method 103 seem to be calculated for insulation at 200mm thick, whereas Ci allows you to vary correction for different thicknesses of insulation?
Also, when using It...
Hey there, just a quick question before i wire all these spot lights.
Iv got a 1.5 T and E fed by a 10 bs60898 would that be enough to supply 20 x 50w GU10 spot lights?
50 x 20 = 1000
1000/230 = 4.34 amp
is that correct?
thanks again
Hi i have just gone self-employed and wondered what cable calc software was out there(free or to buy)that is easy to use.
Also any Risk assessment/Method statement software/templates.
Any other advice gratefully received thanks.
Hi folks here is my greatest creation yet, an absolutely amazing excel spreadsheet {1st tab, UTILITY USE 2011 (T2)} to AUTO CALCULATE the COST per MONTH of WATER, GAS and ELEC (This is the most current version, it’s only 0.7 MB's, free to download/use and edit to suit. Looks similar to older...
just a quick question. im installing 10 x 4 foot fluorescent fittings, each with 4 x 36w tubes.
I was under the impression that each fitting would use 144watts, so all 10 would be 1440watts, which would be 6.2 amps in total.
The problem is it keeps tripping a 10 amp breaker and when ive had a...
HI Guys
I have a 8 flats and 2 retail units due to be built soon and i am trying to work out the Maximum demand for each of the flats and the 2 shops so the supplier can ensure a large enough mains supply.
The Retail units are to just have a supply to a distribution board, the shop is not too...
Doing an inspection on two workshops at the end of the garden.
Workshop one has 40A MCB feeding 6.0mm T+E to junction box on the inside of the house on back wall, then 6.0mm SWA buried to the workshop. Distance to workshop 20m.
If the run was all SWA I calculate this as OK (just - max load...
hi there
can anyone just check my use of adiabatic please
4mm/1.5mm cpc circuit, type 2 30A MCB
zs = 0.35
pfc = 230/0.35 = 657.14
t = 0.01
k= 115
s = sqroot (657.14x657.14x0.01)/115
= 0.5714 mm
so the 1.5mm cpc will be fine. Yes ??
is this right
mv on chosen cable from regs x length of cable run x design current of circuit
divided by 1000
is it calulated amps or the breaer your going to use
is that all as im trying to work out for this lighting circuit but to get the volt drop under 3% the cable needs to be 6mm
ta...
can anyone help
I want to calculate a main earthing conductor for a three phase supply using the old adiabatic equation.
I'm struggling to work out what value of I to use. If you use 230V/0.35 (for a TN-C-S) then you get 657 amps.... if it turns out that Ze is lower, the fault current is going...
i'm wiring a final circuit for a 400v 7.5kw motor,15amp FLA
starting is DOL
i've calculated for the 30m final circuit using 4*4 swa a VD of 4v or 1%
i haven't calculated VD on the distribution circuit
would i be safe with 4*4 or should i calculate total installation VD to be sure
also is...
Chaps,
I notice the Schuco Rail length calculation is "22 mm + [number of modules x (module
width + 21 mm)]".
I'm guessing this leaves zero gap at the end of the rail after the end-clamps.
Are Schuco expecting their end-clamps to be flush with the end of the rail then?
hi all, presume some of use the excel payback calc from eco skies, it is out of date does anyone know the workbook password so the fit payment can be updated to the new rate or has anyone got an improved payback excel template?
cheers
