Hi all

Hi,
Calculating - for the first time - SWA buried cable.
The design current (Ib) is 12 amps
The cable run will be 20 metres, buried in the ground.
I'm looking at 2 core SWA, using the armour as earth

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone can help with calculating the Max emand for the following - I have carried out my own calcs in three different ways and keep coming up with a very high figure. This installation will be single phase and run off a sub main U/G cable.

So, I have a 5.9Kw cooker, running through the cable calcs I end up with S of 9mm:confused:
Cable run is 1M, by my reckoning
Ib - 15A
In - 16A
Ref C
No Correction Factors (clipped on wall not using BS3036 fuse)
It - 16A
Iz - 1mm
Vd - 44x15x1 /1000 = 0.66
R1&R2 - 36.2x1.2x1 /1000 = 0.04

When selecting the derating factor for a cable and the cable requires more than 1 factor to be applied, is it correct just to use the lowest factor, hence derating the cable by the most.
Been studying tonight and still not grasping the theory 100%
Thanks for any help offered:)
Sorry to bring up an old post but im confused.
I have carried out tests on a kitchen ring final wired in 2.5mm/1.5mm T&E, results as follows:
r1=0.36 rn=0.34 r2=0.59
I then joined leg 1 of line conductor to leg 2 of cpc and leg 2 of line conductor to leg 1 of cpc and measured the R1+R2 at...
i'm doing the 2391 course not sure about a way we have been shown with regards to rewirable fuses (not quite how i remember 20 years ago) heres the example -
