Last month I changed a consumer unit and all was well. Now neither of the RCD's are tripping correctly. I get either >50v or >40ms. Could this be 2 faulty RCD's? the make is Contactum and the elecsa guy I spoke to today didn't seem too keen on them. Idea's most welcome

I have a customer who is caretaker of a sports and social centre.
It has a three phase 24 way consumer unit but all old rewireable fuses.
Is there any regulation which means they have to upgrade to a new 17th edition consumer unit.
They seem to think they have to have it changed by the end of...

I'm sure plenty of us have seen 100a fuses on 16mm (or less) tails and know that that simply doesn't work.
My question is, has the ccc changed or something as why would they have been installed in the first place?
I did a job for my father in law who's a builder a little while ago, now the last time i was on a job that required a head moving, which if i remember rightly was about 10m away from its original position it cost 500 pounds this time the electrical board charged 1000pounds and it was moved about...

Can anyone confirm/refute this for me?
Last week Western Power changed the mains head on a job I was doing. Two guys, working live, had a good chat with them about what they were doing, so I know they were.
This week, on another job, an Eon site surveyor tells me they don't do live work, and...
Just wondering, our light fitting outside keeps blowing up. What could be the problem and what steps should I take to rectify the problem? Cheers in advance:)
Hi
A potential client has had the CU changed by an unregistered electrician.
The property is now to be sold and the buyer has requested a "self cert".
I am offering to do a Periodic on the property.
Will this be enough - or is the buyer likely to insist that Building Regs are informed...
