Just looking at purchasing a new sds, which is mainly 60% used for chasing/chopping out, and was wondering if any one out there has used or does use,a chasing machine with the 2 diamond cutting wheels..... would like to know peoples thoughts... i.e are they any good?do they create much dust...
I am rewiring at the moment, should cables be plastered over directly or be placed in conduit, (not surface conduit), before plastering? does it matter?
thanks for any replies

hi,

never had to do it before so not too sure what the deal is with it. and besides if its to solid i'll...
Im looking to by a drill with hammer function only, whats the best make to buy? I am toying with the 36 volt bosch, is there anything better on the market. Oh and I would prefer cordless, or is 110/230v drills better for chasing.
Hi all
Been looking at a job today which if I get it will involve a fair bit of chasing Funds wont stretch to a proper chaser as yet so have been looking at a 4" grinder Would this be a suitable purchase to get going ? Already have sds drill (no chisel action) so could drill holes in between &...
Anyone use a socket box sinker ?
I'm thinking the armed type.
I've got 2 or 3 jobs lined up soon where I know I will be chopping out in brick. So I think now's the time to bite that particular bullet and lay out for one. !
Be grateful for any pointers
Cheers.
Evening chaps,
Got a rewire to do in a couple of weeks, the owner has already had it decorated (Doh!) and really doesn't want it chased.
The original wiring is in old black enamel conduit. Anyone had any joy pulling anything down that old stuff before?
Or should I just tell the chap he's...
I recently bought a house. I start to first fix and realise it has concrete walls which are a struggle so I decided I am going to clip direct and board the walls. But is there an easy way to chase concrete walls.
Nothing to do with dogs,
A customer has got a manky old CU in a cupboard in his kitchen. I'm doing the wiring in the kitchen and he wants me to put the new CU in a cupboard above the worktop.
He doesn't want any trunking and to get the tails up to the cupboard I would have to chase the tails...
Hi All
A few question from the learner.
Does cable have to be a certain depth in the wall?
Does it have to be in trunk/conduit?
Does it have to run only horizontal and vertical? (diagonal??)
How do you fix the oval trunk to the wall before the plasterer does the finish.
Thanks

I am thinking of replacing my old gouge chisel with an armeg 30mm square chisel, am sick of the gouge just digging an ever deeper chase (or should that be gouge).
With the gouge I dont drill a line of pilot holes or anything and it is easy to start at any point. bit of a messy 'chase' though...
Hi all,
I need to chase 4 walls for light switches shortly. Its in my own home. Had it re-wired few months back but due to time restrictions had to have wall mounted switches and trunking fitted.
Was planning on using my sds drill then 25mm chisel, covering cable with pvc channeling.
Any...
I'm really interested to know who or how many electricians offer this as part of their services.:)
Do you do it because it is more professional and despite the extra cost is more likely to secure the job for you:cool: or do you not do it because it's more time and aggro and risks losing you a...
Hi Guys,
As posted in another thread I am about to embark on wiring a new kitchen before all worktops, carcasses etc are in.
My question is am I allowed to clip cables directly to the wall behind where the units will be then chase out only where needed to take to sockets, switches etc above...
i was wondering what the difference is between a gouge and a channelling chisel (as seen in screwfix) for chasing walls (other than a gouge is about a fiver while the screwfix channelling chisel is about 25 quid), from what i can see the channelling chisel looks like it would work better (but...
