Hi i am currently installing a Vehicle ramp to my garage, i have discovered that the motor is a dual 3 phase motor and can run on 230 volts 3 phase i have rewired the motor to suit. I am using a Yaskawa Ac Drive V1000 inverter to take 240v single phase to 240v three phase, with the unit...
A client has a bloody loud (solenoid clicks and also a progressively high whining sound which makes it sound as if it's about to go off pop!) hager contactor switching his underfloor heating (primary heat source for whole flat - all on one stat - do what?!) It is a 40a 3NO contactor. ES 340 is...
I have to design a unit which utilizes both 24V and 110V for lighting. We will supply these voltages by using a dual type transformer. The 24V will supply an alarm and heat tracing whereas the 110V will supply a lighting circuit. Should I install a contactor or a relay to protect from under...
Contactors.....(and lots of other things)
Was hijacking a thread so thought I'd start my own......please feel free to take the pee:drool5:
By the way, this isn't for a job I've got lined up, it's just one of the many things I know very little about but would like to learn,
So, wiring and...
So basically i need to draw circuit diagram for some lights, there are 1200 x 1200 recess modular luminaire it doesn't say the wattage so i can choose whichever, what i want to know is is it ok for them all to be controlled by one switch or will i need to add a contactor?
and also whats the...
ok,lets say the transformer getting input voltages 380-400-440-480-660-690 V and out put is 230-440 v,the tappings provided for the incoming voltages but the incoming will be the same connection either it can be of any voltages, how can it be done by the use of relay and contactors for different...
Hi all I'm trying to get my head around contactors. I understand how they work and what they are just finding the wiring a little hard
I know the
coils are on a1 and a2 which is the control circuit.
So do you have the supply coming in to the top terminals and the load to the light going out...
Hey,
I don't quite understand Relays and Contactors previously ive worked for a company and if we ever needed a contactor they just said heres a contactor wire it (For example we used contactors for the air conditioning switching)
I know how to wire them and that but i dont UNDERSTAND why they...

Hello to all
Just wanted your thoughts really, well im an electrician with 10yrsexperience but worried getting back into the mix.Come out of the trade for a while due to personal reasons, ive got my C&G parts 1,2 and 16th edition, due to do my 17th in a couple of weeks.
My concern is that i have...
I have a question.
Basically I have been asked to install electrical heaters in a large area and the customer wants them timed and on thermostatic controls. Which is fine you can just buy the plug in's right?
Bloody hell their expensive!
I haven't played with contactors and din rail timers...
Does anyone know why contactors are more expensive than relays?
In my mind they do the same thing in fact relays do more (IE normally on/ normally off terminals) so why the difference in price IE contactors are more expensive, I don't get it.
Thanks.
A friend of mine has a 3phase roller door. Under normal circumstances you press the up button and it opens and continues to go up untill the limiter switch kicks in. When it comes down you have to press and hold the down button. I guess this is for safety reasons.
The up button has stopped...
Hi everyone,
is there a market for old and new motor equipment, contactors etc....
I am ripping tons out and upgrading motors and pump running equipment and wondering if the old stuff is worth hanging on to.
Any thoughts let me know ???
Cheers
Hi, looking for some alternative views on this.
Need to fit a contactor and last man out switch for a large house with 2 consumer units, each controlling roughly half of the house. They are fed from 2 separate phases from the 3 phase board.
The last man out switch will be by the front door...
jus a quickie, gotta connect a load of lightin contactors, controlled by various pirs etc,now is it ok to take supplies & load only into the contactor,& of course a switched live/neutral 4 the coil.Reason being 2 limit lotta cables enterin the enclosure of a 20amp contactor.Thinkin out loud, seen...
Hi all,
