Hi there,
I'm not an electrician.. if I were then I wouldn't have got myself into the mess I've managed to find myself in!
I've been renovating my house and have just had my lights installed in my bathroom.. being a total idiot - I focused on the look of the light fitting rather than the...
I have a query from a customer who is looking to buy a 5W product from me which runs on 120/240VAC or 9/36VDC. The problem is, they are in an isolated location where they only have a 28VAC power supply. I have looked around the web and cannot find any obvious solutions, does anyone know of any...
Hi all, two questions that I am hoping someone can shed some light on.
1. What is a typical rating for a high voltage discharge lighting circuit, i.e. a large sign? Can't seem to find anything online and it's not the type of work we do.
2. I'm struggling to find out how to convert kva to watts...
Got a small job to fit an outside RCD socket and when looking at the Cu, I noticed the original main earth from the lead had been disconnected (seemed just a few strands left) and the house had been converted to a TT. The householder explained a previous electrician did this some years ago as...

Basically the building dates back to 1906 and consists of a middle corridor, 4 classrooms to the right, canteen, offices, and toilets to the left.
The plan is for 7 B&B rooms and 3 bedrooms, lounge...

Hi all,
I recently did some work at a property that had no main earthing conductor, however the installation was using the water pipes as the main earth path, so i immediately installed an earth rod, converting the system to TT.

Does anybody know if it's possible to change the 'innards' of a cooker hood? I'm wondering of it's possible to replace the filter fan 'module' with a fan that can be ducted to the outside. I would like to think you don't have to buy a whole new hood ......... maybe I'm wrong.
Thanks Chaps and...

Hi all,
I recently purchased a Chef's Choice Cone Maker 838, which is a fairly basic waffle iron. The problem is, that as it is a product from the USA its operating voltage is 120V at 60Hz and 1050 Watt (these are probably the max values). Would there be any way of converting this to the UK...

Hi, Im waiting for a machine from China to arrive to Canada, and here is my question, machine will be 220V 50Hz, and currently in Canada its 110V 60Hz, so most converters i can find in Canada have no problem doing 110V > 220V, but it seems they all give 60Hz anyways, is there a way to convert...

OK I know it's been thrashed out, still cant decide! Currently TT with overhead, DNO reports PME available.
So...what I have discovered....
PME has 2 protectors for earth fault MCB & RCD, TT only has RCD - PME wins
All bonding to be upgraded to 16mm for PME - TT wins
DNO to maintain earth -...
