Testing old MCBs to check they operate correctly

As far as i know, there is no way of checking an MCB for correct operation. Then today, i've been told you can do it by placing the breaker under load and using an EFLI tester to do it. How the hell would this work, sound like bull to me.:rolleyes:

New Light not working correctly

Hi have just changed an existing ceiling light which had a transformer 240 - 12v with one very similar, just the output was different. I switched on for the first time and the new light started off dim then brightened and then dimmed again. I removed the light to check that I was getting 240...

Terminating T+E correctly

Sorry for the simple question but I'm currently learning....When, for example, I'm removing a light fitting and I want to terminate the T+E feeding it should I be terminating the conductors with line taps?
