So how do you guys determine the size of existing tails and sub main conductors when carrying out EICR or surveys.
The reason I ask is, today I have been looking through some EICR and the conductor size stated of some of tails and sub mains is different to what I thought just by having a quick...
Hi I have two 6mm csa cables in the loft each going back to a separate 30A mcb in the CU. One is redundant, the other goes to a broken 8.5kW shower. I want to fit a new 9.5kW shower and would like to join both 6mm cables together at a 50A dpst shower switch, then run a short length of 10mm csa...
Hi everyone, quick question. In the OSG it states minimum tails from the meter and supply head must be 25mm. Now lets say there's a flat on the third floor and the current tails are 16mm. Would this then mean that the they would need to be replaced making damage all the way up a communal halway...
So I'm contemplating wiring the garage / workshop) sockets in Pyro....(also considered using SWA)
However having never used it before, I'm looking for some help / tips with it.
First: for a 20A socket Radial - 2L1.5 or 2L2.5?
Also is this utter overkill or a worthwhile experiment?
i've come across a flat braided copper earthing conductor on a TN-S system and i'm not sure how to find the csa of it. I need the csa for the installation cert.
Any ideas?
Hi all,
Can I have an opinion as to the following quote in relation to a domestic installation:
"When connecting into an existing circuit it should be noted that cables should be of the same CSA or at a reduced size, taking into account the requirements for current carrying capacity of the...
Hi Guys,
Just looking for some advice. I'm currently installing power to a workshop via a 16mm swa 3 core cable.
The question is, what size protective conductor should i use for the swa at the supply end. The length of
the run is approx 40 metres. Cheers,
Maybe I'm overlooking the obvious but how would you calculate the min. csa of an earthing conductor of say a tn-s system when there is no time/current graph for a 1361 fuse in the BGB? Do you just obtain If from Uo/Ze and then use this in the adiabetic equation. Ta
Hi people,
I am completing some works at an oil refinery and cannot find any identification on the cable like 4x70mm etc. Can I use circumference of the individual phase (after the gland so i can see all phases) divided by pi (3.14) to get the diameter of the phase? I only ask as the cable...
Calipers? One of those cards with holes in? Or something else?
I know in the end I'll get to tell what is what by sight and feel but need something to help me in the meantime, especially with larger live conductors and earth bonding etc
hello peeps,
I could do with some help. And i will greatly be appricated to egt the help.
What is the min CSA of live conductors suitable for CCC and voltage drop for the following:
a. 3kw, 230v water heater
b. 11kw, 400v MIG welder
c. 12kw, 400v three phase machine
d. 5kw, 400v three phase...
hello peeps
please could you help me with dtermining the min CSA for:
a. Earth conductor, where the incoming live conductors are 25mm2
b. Main protective bonding conductors
c. Supplementary equipotenetial bonding conductor which does not have medical protection
Regards
Magy
hi all have a 32A 3036 circuit which feeds a 45A DP isolator from there 3 radiale circuit wired in 1.5mm with fuse spur providing upstream over current protection
now can any one remind me how to calculate short circuit current to be sure cable will be protected due to a short feed side of the...
Evening all,
I wonder if anybody could help me what to enter as the material and size of earthing conductor when 25mm steal conduit is used as earthing, so what is 25mm steal conduit equivalent to earthing conductor mm!
I am struggling to find out what to put down in cert.
Thank You in advace...
Hello guys
I've just had a run in with the dreaded CSA. When me and the ex split she got the house, her lover moved in and I had the 3 eldest ones living with me(one of which ain't even mine!!). Anyways fast forward 5 years outta the blue she gets in touch asking for more money - I'm sending...
Hey guys, I'm getting a bit confused with regards to the regs for the sizing of bonding/main earth. Anyone able to shed some light on the regs or point me to the exact one?
My thoughts at the moment are that as a rule, the main earth has to be no smaller than half the size of the neutral and no...
When calcualting the minimum csa for a cpc using the adiabatic equation, how can you work out the csa of the armour of an SWA cable in relation to the amount of fault current it can carry?
