Hi all, I noticed at my friends home that his shower isolator was fitted to the top step on his wooden staircase at floor level. It could quite easily be stood on when anyone either ascends/descends the stairs. It's right next to the bathroom and it is in a very dangerous position IMO. The...

New LED lights, are they dangerous?

A customer of mine has received an electric shock from holding an LED light in one hand and touching a fridge in the other hand. Should I be concerned about my LED lights? They are made with an aluminium chassis but I can hold them normally and have never received a shock. All comments are much...

Forged quals, dangerous work!!! Long story but worth the read!

So about two months ago now, I got a call from a customer asking if I could do a few bits, "of course" I said. She asked for a rough price to change one pendant for two and install a new socket. I said roughly £100 depending on RCD, Bonding, blah blah blah... and we arranged a date (about a week...

    Is this dangerous!!

Got asked to look at this by a family who had just moved into their bungalow and thought it might be prudent to get it checked out. Can't believe some one would leave this, especially with children in the house. The moral of the story would be don't buy cheap nasty plugs?

    3 phase plug.....

....wired as single phase, but with L3 used for neutral. I know this is poor practice, but is it actually dangerous? Whole wing of the large facility I work in is so wired "to prevent non_inducted personnel using these service plugs." I did not like, and just used my battery drill.

Am I being a snob, or is this actually dangerous

On a distribution board last week in a farm house, I saw 2 core 4mm SWA with the sheath terminated by having a couple of strands in a terminal block.
