Hi looking for some help about faults and symptoms and difference between short circuit, dead short, and overcurrent to know which fault you have.
Is short circuit line and and neutral fault
dead short zero resistance and a tripped breaker
And overcurrent to much current in circuit causing...
Hi. My outlet is dead. I need some help with checking the wiring in a gang box. Please see the pics.
The switch on the left works. One of the other switches may control an unused ceiling light or the gfci outlet. I tried resetting the gfci.
There are 2 gang boxes. I started with the bottom...
I am seeking professional advice. I have no electrical qualifications. On the last 2 occasions I have cut my lawn the RCD adaptor did not trip BUT when I disconnected the mower the RCD was completely dead (ie would not reset nor test nor allow power to any device) . On the second occasion I...
Hello all. Looking for some help. Had a pump to a jacuzzi tub not working. Got into the area where the pump is and plugged it into a different outlet and the pump works. Went to the timer switch on the wall for the pump and put a multimeter on the wires (only two coming into the box other...
As title, playing with test rig and running through dead tests; conductor continuity passes fine but if I try and do any range IR test it just won't have it.
I've tested the dead short to verify leads are ok and they are, I can't figure out why it's not running the test, it's a dead rig so no...
Hi, I'm facing a problem with my FLUKE 199C oscilloscope battery which becomes dead very often and the oscilloscope will not turn on anymore even when the power adapter is connected. Is there any way to make it run on the power adapter regardless of the battery condition.
Can anybody please offer any guidance with the following problem.
The power button doesn't work but when turned off at the socket, left a few seconds and turned back on, the lights briefly come on.
The history so far is here.
It seems that all Transit Custom 2.0 vans built between Feb and Sept 2019 were built with injectors that can die at any time. There was a coating used on the inside of the injectors that can come loose and block up. All four injectors and pipework have to be replaced. My Transit with 4200 miles...
Just finished installing 20 x spike lights in a customers front garden. 2.5mm SWA ran from existing junction box feeding existing fence lights. All pulling no where near 1A in total.
When all connected and wiring tested, went to switch on MCB and it popped. Rendering the MCB useless as if L-N...
Evening all
A few weeks ago we were doing an Eicr and were getting dead shorts on every circuit between neutral and earth. In the end it was believed that the fault might actually stem from the incoming earth. I understand you will get a short if it was tncs but not usually tns. However the...
just a weird one here. driving along, slow, in traffic, suddenly warning comes on " tryepressure system fault", then power steering fails, then IBIL roigh sensor fail" then RBIS left sensor fail, then engine stalls, won't restart. stuck in left lane of dual carriageway, hazzards on but still...
Hi everyone,
I hope this is an appropriate forum to post my issue on. If not, I apologise.
I've got a combi microwave/oven that's 7 years old. Never had any issues. Yesterday I had to do some work on the electrical wiring in the house, so I turned off the main switch. I had to do this multiple...
What are you guys using a additional physical security on on your vans? Assuming no-one is foolish enough to be relying on the OEM door lock and immobilisers. Being freshly minted, that is fleeced by various insurance and CPS bodies, I chose the DIY option and bought three Milenco Door Bolts off...
This could just be a Friday evening brain fart after a long week but,
Got home tonight to find the downstairs lighting cicuit has tripped, tried to reset the RCBO and it blew again straight away. IR tested the circuit, all fine.
While the circuit was disconnected I tried turning the rcbo on and...
Attended call out at shop. Freezers, chillers and tills were down. Using MFT on V. measurement got 235V plugged into socket. Tested inside socket at terminals with drummond tester, nothing 0 V. Switched MFT to Loop and the neutral was missing. Just a bit puzzled why the MFT shows V. and Drummond...
Hi guys got my assesment in 3 weeks and want to get my testing spot on. Little confused whether to test Zdb on 2 way CU before dead tests?? Or do I jump straight into continuity? Thanks in advance.
Firstly my sympathies to the victims and their families.
How on earth can one, retired accountant, 64 year old guy on a shooting spree kill and injure so many people? I wouldn't have believed it possible, this takes lone wolf attacks to a whole new level.
The numbers are just staggering.... To...
Ok. Safe isolation at DB is quite easy pushing against solid fixed terminals but when you are checking a loose hanging wire how the hell do juggle a voltage tester with spring loaded sheaths in one hand? What do you guys use and does any of the approved kit come with croc clips?
Good afternoon everyone.
I am hopping you can recommend a firm for fitting dead locks to my small van. I have a Citroen Berlingo. I am in south London.
Thank you for any help
Hi from France, I,m an all round DIY,er so when a mate ask me to bring my electrical tool bag to have a look at a dead socket I did so. With everything switched off I stripped the socket to find that there had been arcing but what confused me was that it was the neutral arcing to earth. I given...
