What value do I put in the maximum demand box on NIC Installation certificate?
The system in question is 2.4 kWp fed into a dedicated consumer unit (garage unit)
Any help would be appreciated.
I'm currently doing a project on a service station for college I need to work out maximum demand for 3phase 0.5kw motor circuit with power factor of 0.8 and efficiancy of 95%
Can any one help point me in the right direction of how to work this out???
When calculating max demand for eic's......the NIC dvd shows them switching on as much as possible and meusuring the current ....
However the house in question has nothing in it other than a few light bulbs.
How do i calculate this ?
Or am i just being dull
when filling in the test cert for a new extension ( 4 circuits ) Do you have to fill in the max demand for the whole installation or just the work you carried out and tested?
Hi, the maximum demand (load) in a property is as follows:
(4x32+4x6)0.40 = 60.8 amps and the main fuse rating is 60 amps.
Does this comply, taking tolerance into consideration? What is the tolerance in this kind of situation? Should I ask DNO to upgrade the fuse and the tails? Many thanks!
Hi Engineers, just want to clarify something. I have a computation of Total Full Load Current of 195 Amperes.
My client gives me a demand factor of 0.70, multiplied to my Full Load Current 195 Amperes results to 136.5 Amperes. My decision is to use a 200 Amperes Main Breaker, am I right with...
Bit confused as to a way around this. Got house extension. im having a 80 amp up grade to incomer but i think it will need 100amp. but they wanna charge nearly £2000..
we already took another shower plus some bits of their list but still up there

Is there a readily available current detection device that can be used to disconnect one circuit as the other exceeds a set current? With or without integrated contactor?
This is for use in a large static caravan which has many high-load appliances such as 2.5kW washer, 2kW tumble dryer, 2kW...
Hi everyone,
Can anyone help just trying to calculate the electrical demand and not sure about it. The circuits are as follow:
4 x lighting circuits (2 that are smoke circuits)
4 x ring mains
1 x radial for boiler
1 x cooker (32 amp supply needed, 28.6 amps without socket point on isolator?)...
This may sound abit dumb, But looking at a small office with new install of dado trunking 7 sockets, only supplying 3 desktop pc's 3 LCD monitors and a 36 inch LCD Monitor, these running might be odd mobile or laptop plugged in now and then. what i was concerned was that is run off a RAdial...
Hi again
I also have a query about determining the installations maximum demand for when an electrical installation certificate must be filled in. I have calculated the demand for my test scenario using Appendix 1 of the On Site Guide as 103.92A using the breaker values. However I have seen...
Hi All,

Watched the NICEIC's periodic inspection reporting dvd the other night, good overall and helpful but one thing I just cant agree with.
I'm sure Tony Cable is a good electrician but when it came to the section on Maximum Demand he measured it with a clampmeter around the Line Tail and shouted "...
