Running a supply from the house to the garage, just about to dig the trench for the ducting but wondered what depth it has to be? The cable will cross underneath a slabbed path before going about 2 metres max across (under!) the garden.

Hopefully just a quick question really, i need to quote to install some cable to go around the outside edge of a large rounded driveway, it will be sunk into the ground but at what depth?
Ive looked online but see different depths quote, some 450mm some 600mm and some completely...
I'm sure there's a reg related to the depth of cables under water in a Marina environment.
I'm sure it was they must be encased in lead if at a depth of >4m
I've been searching Section 709 but can't find it...... is it something else I've dreamt up??

Can anyone tell me is there a legal requirement to bury exterior armoured cable at a particular depth or is it just a recommendation. I am not an electrician but am in dispute with a company.
Any advice would be appreciated.

just been to sink in some flush socket 25mm so chopped in 10mm leaving 15mm to be taken up by render and plaster "
plasterer comes in "they need chopping in more render and plaster will come out 10mm tops"
never had a problem with 15mm proud.

When sinking in galv backboxes into new block walls, how much is best to leave proud of the wall to allow the dot and dabbed board to come flush with the front.
