Good Evening All. First question on site so apologies for bad formatting.
Am interested to know best work around for testing the off peak side of a split load board fed by a teleswitch meter running economy 7 storage heaters. Able to perform dead tests but no power until after midnight so cannot...
doing a board change soon where they still have economy 7, my boss reckons that this board will not need RCD protection, I think he is an old fart that should keep up with the regs and stop interfering.
Comments please.
Hi guys,
First thank you for reading and helping out.
Ok I got the above water timer, since last week it's just doesn't seem to be working.
First off i set the time as per current time, i set the time as "summer." but it just doesn't seem to heating up the water and importantly it doesn't...
heres the situation, old bungalow, storage heaters, old re-wireable board. 3phase supply (yes, all 3 phases and neutral taken into the property, god knows why as it has never been anything other than a dwelling). they want the board upgrading, some bonding and replace all the storage heater...
Hi there,
I'm scratching my head on this one. Client has a wireless radio transmitter thing next to their meter which sends a signal at 2330 to the main meter (two dials - one for economy7/off peak one for on peak/normal) to turn on economy 7 and then off again at 0630. Side note: apparently...
It may be completely stupid but I've been wondering about this one for a while...
Short of coming back at night, how do I get Ze or do the RCD testing for an economy 7 system?
Treasury minister David Guake reckons the reason the treasuary is broke is because all us self employed tradesmen are contributing to the black economy
by taking "cash in hand" for work done, he reckons we are all at the fiddle and do not fully declare our earnings and the customer is "morally...
I have a customer who wants rid of economy 7.
here is a picture of the supply & meter + teleswitch
can I go ahead and remove this myself ? or with permission of the DNO ? is that likely
thanks
Can someone explain how these differ from a normal manual timer? Is it just the fact that it has a boost incorporated aswell?
Got to change one tomorrow but was wondering if fitting two manual ones would do the same thing? Ie timer on economy 7 hours and other used essentially as a boost...
Hi everyone
I am new to this board and would firstly like to say hello to everyone and to keep up the good work, this place is like a hidden vault for knowledge.
I've been asked a bit of a curveball question form my friend who is a building contractor.
An installation that he completed 4...
I moved into a new flat yesterday and turned on the storage heater economy 7 switch next to it. The light came on at night so I assumed it was heating up. However, this morning it wasn't warm. I had the input and output on 3 but it was freezing still.
Is there another switch that I need to...
Hey folks, Just thought I would run this one by before the weekend.
I'm pretty happy with what I'm doing here but just wanted to check, as I've not carried out this particular alteration before.
Client has a large outbuilding which amoung other things they use as a games room. It is fed by a...
I have an apartment with this strange EDF tariff called Economy 9. It is basically 9 hours of off-peak electric that are spread throughout the day, unlike Economy 7 which has them all at night.
There is a single Horstmann radio telemeter and a single CU. However the CU is wired up with two main...
Went to look at a job today which looks like a real botch up. The lady has been there a few months and rang me because the electric towel rail in the bathroom has never worked since she moved in. Just called in at 9am to have a quick look on way to another job and its a right strange case...
Hello everyone! Can somebody please help me. We have this Newlec Economy 7 water heater in our apartment. It looks exactly the same as the Hortsmann Economy 7. It's the one that has a winter/summer timer and the boost timer as well. However these past couple of weeks, the winter/summer timer...
Quick question guys.
Am I right in thinking that a normal household with oil central heating, so no storage heaters, would be better off on a standard electricity tariff as opposed to an economy 7 tariff.
Thanks in advance.
Steve.
Just curious about this one?
If you're working on a property with a night supply and separate consumer unit, how do you do the live tests, without the hassle of having to attend at night?
Sorry if that's a really stupid question, I've just been practising with my MF tester on my own flat, but...
Just wondering if anyone has got in their shed or stores an Enbray Type 2U TP+N economy 7 contactor, that they want to sell as i`ve been asked to replace one (Which was left in place by EDF when they moved their meters/supply to a different position). I want to replace like for like as the space...
Hi everybody......If possible could i have some advice on putting E7 on a timer.
I come home to a cold flat unless i leave the heaters on and the hot water.
I have 3 heaters all wired into a Fused socket and the hot water is run of a nite time off a Horstman Timer.
