If there isn't a 2-pole isolator there already, I usually get the client to arrange to get one fitted before I do a board change, either through their energy supplier, or (if they also need a PME earth, or their energy supplier is faffing around) through National Grid (formerly WPD).
Every time...
Hello all. I'm just looking for a bit of advice regarding our meter.
EDF keep badgering us to have a smart meter fitted, and they recently changed tack and said our current meter needs replacing as they are duty bound to make sure our meter is reliable.
I know a smart meter is not mandatory...
Hi, I have a flat in a rather old building in London. Its subdivided into a few individual flats, and there is a meter board with a gas and electric meter in each flat. My electricity supplier sent someone out a few days ago to fit a smart meter, but the fitter said he was unable to do so...
Hi all
I have a customer who wants a smart meter .. they are with edf ..
The existing meters ...1 day rate , 1 off peak ..plus mechanical time switch are placed in the customers porch behind a panel rather than in a meter box ,.. circa 1965 I guess.
In order to upgrade the consumer unit we need...
Hello guys
EDF came out to a flat and attempted to replace the meter.
I have been called out to investigate there comments which are “unsafe to remove meter, possible borrowed neutral, voltage at meter even with fuse removed (dropped neutral test)”
First off i am currently on site, I removed...
Hi all,
I am being irritated by EDF at present. Last week I phoned them and asked them if they would be supplying a double pole isolator into the meter box between the meter and the consumer unit. They said in my area, Plymouth, it was our responsibility to fit a double pole isolator for the...
Looking for some technical advice Regarding having EDF coming to connect a new Meter for a (3yr) Temporary TT System supply.
The connection was refused at first and he left a sheet with 2 points.
1. "earth rod" - (this has been sorted now) I've installed an earth rod with clamp and 16mm earth...
So I've just been to a call out, customer reports a smell of burning before loss of power.
I ascertain that one of two main fuses has gone and there is a slightly charred look about the old VIR cable as it enters the second service head in the flat. Both fuses sealed and I'm not going to start...
Hello all, I have just passed my NIC assessment and am waiting to get my certs and registration number etc through. I need to produce a cert for a DB I have installed at a premises that has had a new supply and is waiting to be commissioned by EDF.
They require a test cert before energising...
Have a builder client desperate to get some temp boards into some new builds just about at the electrical first fix stage, DNO have put the supplies in but Eon (subbed to an EDF fitter) have refused to fit meters until the whole lot are finished which is clearly ridiculous. Anybody else ever...
Customer just rang, was at work so not got all info, but the jist is he said there was a problem getting his FIT payment as EDF say they havent recieved the paperwork, i think they have received the FIT application forms because i emailed them, i think its the PV commission sheet and Electrical...
I sent them my meter reading last Thursday, 27th, and got an email today to advise that the credit will be in my account within five working days of today!
Looks like they've finally got their act together.
Just to inform you that EDF have got their act together. This is my third payment. I sent email with meter reading on Thurs 6th Sept, got notification of payment yesterday - 8 Days !!!!!!!!!!!
Seems to be one of the promptest payers at present according to the various forums around.
Also to...
I have been at the olympics for the last week at stratford and spotted a display with solar panels so thought i'd see what their sales peoples knowledge was like. The first thing i did though was pick up their leaflet 'our solar pv prices are now lower than ever' you could generate up to £713 a...

I applied to EDF for a feed in tarriff contract in mid February following my installation.
I still haven't received a contract from them although they do acknowledge receipt of the forms.
The say they are months behind with the paperwork.
Anybody else in the situation?
Orty
Anyone read the article in E&T regarding power to central London during the Olympics? It would seem EDF can’t meet their commitments to supply both the games and the many data centres around the area.
It would also seem the data centres are donning their big hobnail boots to deliver a severe...
After waiting nearly four months for my FIT contract from EDF they have surprised me !!
I gave them a reading on March 27th (by post), informed me last week I would be paid soon, TODAY ITS IN THE BANK.
Yep 33 days from reading to bank. Keep it up!
Just need the sun to come back now ! Good job we...
Just spoken with the Green team at EDF - they are still backlogged and are currently finalising NOV 2011 - ( target date 23rd March )
They are processing in date order and have thousands of applications for DECEMBER 2011 - so it depends on which date in DEC you have as your acceptance date, but...
Just had an EDF Engineer do a de-energise/re-energise in West London
As he was doing it he casually threw in that all my main protective bonding had to be 16MM.
Nice, I'd just routed a 10mm over hill and down dale to get to the gas supply. We had a discussion, quoting regs mandatory/statutory...
