An interesting report.
I'm in favour. My own opinion is that ten years between inspection and testing of domestic installations is too long, and that this period should be reduced to five years. I particularly like the proposal that an EICR be compulsory whenever there is a change of occupancy...
Advice or quicker ways for doing i r tests on an eicr generally what I have been doing over the years is live to earth neutral to earth and joining live and neutral together then testing to earth job done but my pal who has recently had his annual nice i c visit said he's been shown a new...
I can understand accessories you may only sample a percentage but allot of companies only test %20 of the final circuits.
Thats like taking your car for an MOT and only looking at half the car... should this practice be outlawed as testing firms are getting away is issuing a worthless report and...
Reading allot of landlord accreditation and news items EICRs are a hot topic and may soon become compulsory.
Looking around on the internet i can see companies charging £80.00 for an EICR, i dont see how this works as it take 4 hours to test a 1 bedroom flat with all the paper work involved...
A point of interest really, not having done that many EICRs and the few that I have done did not come with any problems.
After reading about "how should I code this that or the other" got me thinking.
Where I worked we were given written permission to disconnect any dodgy installs we found at...
Hi all, been working a long time as an industrial electrician, for last ten years as a crane inspector. Just passed my 2394 2395 2392 etc at great personal expense tbh but well worth it (still have to pass my practical but I'm quietly cobfident) am hoping to go part time as am still...
Hi , meeting mp because I want to highlight the unfairness of the Scottish Governments Guidance in favour of companies who are registered with Napit . select, Elecsa and Nickit. Also to highlight bias against self employed electricians,as laid out in annex A of this guidance any of you guys got...
Eh up :)
I don't do EICRs - not enough experience - but the things I see on some reports done by others really dismay me. Perhaps some of my understanding needs improving, I dunno. Or perhaps the CPSes have their own set of guidelines different from the sources I use? In the examples below, I'm...
Rather than add to 'Thoughts on recommendation' I thought it better to begin a new one.
I am a landlord in London. I think it should be mandatory for an in-date EICR whenever a new tenant takes up a lease and of course after electrical works. I present to my tenants both the EICR and Gas...
Hi all
I have recently been offered a job carrying out large quantities of EICRs. The manager has stated that he wants 4 EICRs done in a day. The properties are small 3 bed houses all on the same housing estate. Is this possible based on a normal working day? He is offering a day rate of pay...
Hi all, was wondering if anyone could tell me if it's possible to duplicate an entire EICR on the app. We have a scheme of 20 houses to do all exactly the same electrically and this would save a bit of time (worth mentioning we obviously won't be using the same values for each property, it's...
Basic question boys but just want to check.
Doing an eicr for a flat which will then be rented, printing one off from iee site will be fine wont it? As in, I dont need to be with one of them lot do I?
Fairly sure I don't anyway but never hurts checking!
Dont know if I am using the right team of QS but basicly I am the chief inspection test electrician at the company I work for. I help and train two other electricians in the testing side of our work and I alone sort out the EICRs.
Anyway running slightly off topic. Niciec assessment is coming...
I'm a NICEIC Domestic Installer but on bunging my postcode into NICEIC's 'Find an Electrician' page after ticking the EICR box, my company didn't show up.
NICEIC tells me that this is quite right and if I want to do EICRs on NICEIC forms and come up in a search I need to become an Approved...
just looked on a price comparison site (whatprice.co.uk) by accident and found prices for eicr testing from around the country - couldn,t believe a sole trader in sunderland offering to test up-to 3 bed house for £65 all in ( reckons 2.5 hours to fully test and do paperwork ) and telling people...
The article doesn't mention what qualifications this 'electrician' had, but it seems he had filled in the EICR incorrectly, providing values for circuits which didn't exist, then the QS was given 46 EICRs to check at once, and missed the mistakes.
Should the CPS prosecute?

hi all just a quick question ive been looking at quotes and i would like to know if i actully need indemnity insurance its a given that i require public liability insurance thoughts please .
Please post your comments on here - state if you think EICRs should be done every year or 5 years.
Also please state your reason behind your choice - please don't put money!, profit for us, cost to landlords etc!
I will put this forward to Parliament in favor of which one is considered best by...
Hello everyone,
Sorry if this has been asked for more but I could not find the answer anywhere.
Basically, I am planning on getting Part P registered and also want to be able to do EICR's.
I have done an advanced apprenticeship however I do not have my 2391, which I read on Elecsa's website...
