hi
just a quick one,
as far as I'm aware, RCD's (with two poles, specifically the VOLEX VR80 30mA) don't care which side the Line or Neutral go in.
Am I right?
Or is this model a special case?
Can't think why, I know it works on an inbalance betwixt L-N, and the bumpf says you can wire it...
Had a strange one the other day.
I was in a main switch room and had an RCBO connected into a DB, but switched off. From it was a radial in singles to a socket adjacent to the DB. The conductors were disconnected at the socket, if I touched the neutral down to earth, it sparked as though it was...

I've looked at the easy MCS guide on here, and it's not clear, (in my eye's) to what value you place in the part where it asks for this.
I've done a pscc test at the AC isolator with my fluke, and it's giving me a reading of 600A.
Is this what they want? There's no mention of it on the SMA...
Please forgive me in asking this same question which normally results in an arguement......lol
I friend of mine needs to have a supply installed (a lighting circuit, a heater circuit and a socket circuit) in a SWISS style log cabin located about 2 metres away from their main home which has a...
HI Guys
New to the trade and currently learning but in real need of help. I changed the C/U and the RCD keeps tripping although all tests came back fine. It is the Central heating that is doing it for sure as I have had the immersion on and turned off the central heating for the past 6 weeks...
Hi folks I need some guidence on this. There's a 3phase overhead power supply feeding exterior accommadation at a hotel. What it seems they've done is taken the cable out at the chimney area at either end and then split the phases like you see on an electricity pole (wish I'd taken a pic). The...

If so, what camera do you use and is it working for you? We want to analyse the market and determine if the majority of people are using our camera's or other camera's?
Let me know your thoughts?
Cheers, Rich.

If using an extension lead with a built in 30mA RCD plugged in to a socket protected by 30mA RCD in consumer unit, would they trip together in event of cutting through lead ? Not that I've done it,just curious!!!
Hey all, I've installed an alarm at home, 3 pirs, 2 door contacts, a remote keypad and a bell box to a veritas 8 main panel, set it all up and it seems to work fine, there are no faults coming up all wiring has been checked several times and all options checked checked and checked again but...
I contacted a guy selling a generator on ebay to tell him it was not as specified. He was claiming it was a 6.5kva when it wasn't. He suggested I inform other people by putting the info on a forum site, so here goes.
There are a lot of Chinese made generators being marked up as 6.5kva when...
I'd be grateful if anyone could give me some advice.
I removed a single light and found three cables attached - they were old colours. The cables also fed the lounge lights where there is a two way switching.
I've connected the new four spot light in the study in exaxctly the same way as the...
Hi, recently did a CU replacement. Tested before the change and circuits all good, but one odd thing I found is that the previous owner had installed his own version of a two-way switch for the hall light.
However, rather than using 3-core in a traditional arrangement so that either switch can...
Putting up an extra light point to existing circuit and whilte testing noticed the bathroom lights are not sealed. just normal downlight that have no seal to provent moisture. Whats best way to note on cert?
