Some electric tankless shower water heaters have inbuilt ELCB. Are they better than Triton water heaters which don't have it ? and does Triton tankless water heaters have any inbuilt security? Or an external RCD is better ?
Been called to a job for a second opinion,
Previous spark said current db set up would warrant a code 2 and therefore need a board change.
Granted the elcb set up isn't great for discrimination but cant see this warranting more than a C3.
But what about the elcb itself?
It Tests out fine.
Any...
hi all got a little kitchen refurb that im undertaking pretty simple stuff moving sockets and such. However upon looking at the DB which is quite an old MEM type. The main switch is a 80A 100mA elcb ( will include picture ). Without recommending a board change any suggestions on how i can...
Came across this recently doing an EICR.
Just wondering if anyone has any information on this.
Its a Chilton 60A Current operated ELCB
Voltage Rating 415
Current Rating 60A
Rated Tripping Current 770mA
Catalogue No. CEHB3060/C
I'm curious about the 770mA Rated Tripping Current.
There are some...
Came across what I'm pretty sure was a current operated Crabtree ELCB today. Just had a search on here and a google and haven't found a lot. Annoyingly I didn't take a picture as I thought they would be more common than they evidently are! Pretty sure its the first I've seen in the 15 years I've...
Hi all
My problem is that my CU is about 30 years old. It is the grey metal "wylex?) one with the main incomer switch on the right (ELCB) with the little yellow test button above it.
The original rewireable carts have been replaced with MCBs.
The problem is that occasionally ,maybe 2 or 3...
What is the most sensitive current-operated ELCB that I can buy for fitting in a domestic single-phase system? Is it less than 30mA, and if so where from?
Hi Guys,
Was called to look at this job today, problem with a tripping dishwasher on hi temp, had a look at the C/U and noticed this arrangement, obviously as you can probably see fairly newish board, but still has ELCB wired pre board, and then an rcd within board, my understanding is most...
Went to quote for a job today,
Client currently has a 16th edition board with a current operated ELCB 230v 60amp 30mA main switch. He wants a socket radial circuit for his new extension.
My question is, is this switch 17th edition compliant. If I install the required circuit. I know it is...
anyone got a recomendation for this, (usual case not wanting to spend)
swap an existing socket for fcu for new boiler, no bonding to gas/water against regs but velcb on tt so installing bonding could render the elcb useless making the install worse than what it is. so two options:
swap socket...
Hi,
Completing an EICR on a local authority property.
The main switch is an MK 'Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker' rated 60amp 30ma. Of course it's not a true ELCB its actually an RCD or current sensing device, see:
ln5760 | eBay
for an example.
My question is I cant see a BS number on it, does...
Hey,I,ve just done an EICR and been asked to quote for remedials. Its a TT with a 60a Chilton VOELCB main switch going to a 60a 1361 switch fuse feeding a 16mm T&E that runs off through the house to a metal clad Wylex 3036 with outside sockets on the ring. 96.6 ohms on the earth rod. Can I...
Hi. Am new to this forum and just wondered if anyone had any tips about ELCBs and their testers. It seems that there are still many of these obsolete ELCBs still in use (in my area of Weardale Co Durham) and I've read about the testers for them tripping out other properties in the same location...
hello
have a query re the above, as i came accros one for the first time yesterday. i am aware that these devices are now obsolete and should be replaced. Now many people advise to remove and replace with a modern RCD to current standards. if you do replace with a new RCD, basically covering...
Hi guys,
i am from indonesia, i install CCTV system at Highway and the panel equipped with RCD
i need to understand few question
my RCD trip frequently ( in 1 month average 2-3 times)more whose if raining with thunder storm.
info = RCD 40Amp, 0.1mA, earth resistance 0.5 Ohm.
Q1 - Why...
The semi-detached house next to mine is being refurbished, including rewiring work. Our electricity meters, fuseboxes etc are back-to-back on the party wall. My ELCB has tripped a few times recently, and I eventually realised that it happens when someone is working next door. Last time it...
Hi Guys,
Today I was fitting a 30 mA 32 a rcbo when my colleague said it should be an ELCB, Ive been in the game a few years now (3 1/2) so I know what I'm talking about. I told him he must be mistaken and there is no such thing but he insists that there are, I know an rcbo is a form of rcd mcb...
