Im a Yankee sparky doing a 17th ed install.
Besides in a shower room, where else is required a RCD or ELCB?

And beyond requirements, what is the best practice?
Hi Guys
I have a consumer unit that is protected by an ELCB,is this similar to an RCD or does the consumer unit need to be replaced with split RCD board. Thanks in advance.
I'm from Holland and the idea my electrical installation wasn't safe never crossed my mind. I live in Thailand now and things are a bit different here, something I first noticed when my first pc was fried. It was then I had the sockets replaced and ground and put a surge protection unit in...
Advice needed please, I was called out last week to a nuiscance tripping problem with an old elcb, IR tests showed up a L-E fault on ring circuit, finaly traced the fault to a wall light run off ring circuit which was shorting out in the socket. I disconnected this, put everything back together...

So would...

I'm on a TT system through supplying cables that run underground, but then along the front of the house just above the front door.
I have an ELCB which trips ocassionaly, and when it does it is sometimes difficult to get it to re engage. Because of this I have been meaning to replace this or...
