Hi, I'm obviously new. I'm looking at buying a fluke 1663 but am concerned that when the new 18th edition comes in it will be obsolete. Would I be better off buying a used 1653b, + calibration, and then a new mf tester when the new regs come in?
If this has been covered then please feel free to...

Hi All
Which testing kit do people recommend for more diy use which doesn't cost silly money.
Like socket testers etc. Is there a better socket tester than the Martindale ez150?
Or a kit similar to the kewtech 17th edition testing kit.
Thanks
Has anyone done the JIB MCAS (mature candidate assessment scheme) ?

Hi Lucian. I hope you see this post that I said I was going to put up in response to your information.

Hi, I'm being assessed for fault finding as part of my NVQ tomorrow and have just had a bit of a 'what the hell am I'm doing' moment!
I'm building the fault in. It will be a loose neutral touching an earthed metal back box in a socket on a ring main, causing the RCD to trip.
My plan of attack...
Has anyone ever written an risk assessment for the omission of RCD protection?

I've noticed that it's called PAT Testing everywhere but surely it should be called PA Testing otherwise its Portable Appliance Testing Testing!!!!!:dunce2:
I have been asked to disconnect and remove a large 3-phase cooker from an installation in a commercial kitchen which is being cleared. Simple enough, isolate at DB, disconnect at local isolator, blank the exit hole, job done.
The circuit in question becomes redundant, if it is re-used in the...
Hi,
1) To comply with the latest Reg's I assume that 230v 16A sockets for general use, now need RCD protection.
2) If the same type of outlet is for additional isolation of fixed equipment , an RCD is not required as long as it is labelled that it is not to be used for any...
