    Main Equipotential Bonding

Is there a maximum resistance value for main bonding ? Having read 2 books by so called experts, one says there is no value as it depends on the length (logical) another says a max of 0.05 ohms, I can see in GN3 this figure for supplemetary bonding between 2 accessible extraneous parts but...

Equipotential bonding terminated at cut out

When carrying out PIR's i occasionally come accross the Main gas bond terminated directly into the DNO's cut out. Whilst i realise the gas is earthed it doesn't strictly comply with the regs as it should terminate into the MET. I Code 4 it. I only ask as a friend of mine disagrees and refuses to...

    Main equipotential bonding . . .

A simple, yet interesting question. We are advised that when bonding services such as the water incomer, then the bonding conductor should be unbroken between the MET and the connection to the service. However, I have seen that it is possible to use the structural steel of a building to...

    equipotential bonding

Just done a periodic, and found the water main bonding is daisy-chained off of the gas main bond. I seem to remember thats okay as long as the cable is unbroken at the first point of call. ( g/y sleeving stripped back at the earth clamp ) However the cable IS cut and then both ends are...

    PME systems and sub mains?

Was working on an installation a few weeks ago (PME domestic) which had a sub to a garage which in turn had another sub which supplied a c/u in a shed about 20 meters down the garden. Got talking to mate of mine on Saturday who said that both the subs should be protected by an an individual...

    Continuity (Main Equipotential Bonding)

My practical for Inspection & Testing is coming up towards the end of the month and im a little unsure about how to test the main equipotential bonding for continuity. My tutor told me that one end of the Main Bonding conductor has to be removed from the MET in order to remove any parallel...

Hello, New to this forum and i've had a good look round to see if this question has been asked previously - apologies if it has, as i've been unable to locate! :) My question is - can main equipotential bonding consist of 2 pieces of wire crimped together? I'm aware that if 2 services are...

Hi chaps my first post so please bear with me. I am just undertaking a periodic on a flat which is over the top of its integral garage in a block of three. It has a concrete floor and the gas meter is on outside wall of garage below. I was checking the main safety bonds and could not find the...

    Size of equipotential bonding????????

If you do a board change and the installation only has 6mm2 earth cable to its gas and water is it a requirement of the regulations that you change it for 10mm2? Or can you recommend its upgrade but if its declined just leave it? Help appreciated;)
