Hi, I'm after some advice. I want to make up an extension lead with a slight difference. 8m lead from plug and then split into 2 separate 3m cables each with a socket. I have not been unable to find a suitable 'doubler' connection other than using a standard household junction box. Anyone know...
Does anybody know where i can buy one of these? Do you know the type i mean, the one you pull down and it stays put then you give it a tug and it flies back and coils up... need one around 10m long or so.
Just been doing some testing today including 6 brand new extension leads, first two tested ok 3rd one failed with low insulation resistance of around 0.250m ohms. It was then i noticed that this one had surge protection. Can anyone please explain why this would cause these results and how to get...
walked into a meeting room at work today and sitting on the table, plugged in was a 5 way extension lead with both 3 pin sockets and 2 pin european sockets.
The sockets are not shuttered, you can see the copper inside and could quite easily get a finger in there, no BS number anywhere on the...
Hello
When pat testing a RCD extension lead I always test the RCD is working with the test button and with my meter. but in doing so i normally knock the RCD in the consumer unit out. is there anyway to test this without setting all the rcds off ?
Thanks Philip

Looking at the leads they're only 1.25mm^ 3core. So where do I stand with the maximum length shoud be 12m...
Hi folks
Hope someone can lend a bit of advice. Was round at a friends today as she was concerned about her washing machine - so she should be. It was connected to a very cheap looking 3 way extension along with a fridge and a tumble dryer. Clearly this was overloaded. However, the scorching...
I've seen many cheap(£1.49) 4 way 0.5 metre extensions on sale in Asda and Morrisons. I seem to remember from somewhere that an extension lead has to be at least 1 metre long. Occasionaly, the short cable allows easy placement for audio etc. but I thought it wasn't allowed. Does anyone else...
I have a 4 gang 13A socket assembly on the end of a roof mounted pull down spring tensioned cable reeler. The reeler is connected via a local DP switched connection unit to a distribution board. Does this set up constitute an extension lead. Reason for question is that MoD regs ban the use of...
