My extractor fan has given up the ghost this week and I was hoping to replace it myself, however I cannot do a like for like swap as the current fan is rated for zone 2, operated by a switch on the fan housing but located within zone 1,
My plan is to replace the old fan with a zone 1 rated...
Hi
I connected black wire to neutral and red one to Live one, but extractor fan still does not work. Please see photos attached.
Does it mean I need to split red wire into 2 and connect to the very left and very right sides to make it work, or am I missing something?
would appreciate an...
Hi to all,
If extractor fan in bathroom is autonomous does it still require isolator switch or usual fused switch will do? It runs of 12v transformer outside. Not being linked to light switch. Can be fed from either circuits.
Bought a new extractor with a timer and a pullcord, to replace existing extractor with a timer only. Idea was to use the pullcord to turn the fan off completely even when the lights are on. However, after wiring it in according to the instructions I seem to get the pullcord acting as a primary...
Hi. My current axial Xpelair model 92614AW ground floor bathroom extractor fan is installed in zone 1 and doesnt work efficiently at all. Its wall mounted but doesnt go straight to the outside as there is now an extension on the back of the bathroom. I think either I need to get a more powerful...
Hi all, I did train as an electrician but never worked as one so my experience is limited and ive not done anything for a while now.
I have an extractor fan in my kitchen that comes on with the lights and its damn annoying. I did disconnect it a few years ago but on a recent inspection the...

My son is 14, he seems to be taking ultra long baths and showers and the bath/shower room is drenched afterwards.
I have just bought a pretty good inline fan and was planning on fitting it on its own switch as the existing lights are on a dimmer. I would love the fan to come on...
Ikea HOO M10s extractor hood. Lights flash on then stay dimmed.

Hi to all,

Could you explain difference with operation by terminal 1 and...

I have just been core drilling a 105mm hole for an extractor fan in a bathroom wall. I had a good look around on my pre works visit and realised it was a wide wall (600mm) but my core drill can handle that. Got through 600mm+ and then the customer tell me that there is another...
Doing an Eicr and the 230v timed class 1 bathroom extractor is less than 200mm next to the shower head.
I see this as a C2 and would insist on it being changed to at least a 12v fan or even better a new location.
Welcome any thoughts
Hi there.
Recently our bathroom extractor fan broke, so I got a new one but I'm having difficulty wiring it (homeowner DIY guy here).
So... there are 3 wires coming from bathroom wall:
brown (Live)
blue (Neutral)
yellow/green (Ground).
Previously, old extractor fan used all 3 of those wires...
Hi there,
I'm trying to wire an extractor fan (Manrose 4" / 100mmm with timer)
I don't have too much knowledge about Electricity but I'm very keen to install it myself and learn too.
I don't wish to connect the fan through a light switch rather directly to the wall
Now the fan has 3 connectors...
I've got a CDA ECP62SS/2 extractor fan, can anybody tell me how to remove the lights so I can change the bulb. Also what type of bulb is used in this model.
Thank you
Does it make a difference?
My FILs bathroom fan had stopped working, and after checking power was where it needs to be, conclusion is fan is faulty
“I could have told you that… it doesn’t work!”
The fan isn’t too old, and I’m wondering if the way it’s been mounted is causing too much strain...
Hi all,
I'm looking for recommendations for a kitchen extractor fan i.e. rate of 60l/s.
We're almost finished renovating and we've just been told we have to have one (I know bit late in the day and I'm not happy but we are where we are). There are only a couple of spaces for one to be located...
The switched connection unit for the kitchen extractor fan and the lower part of fan is now behind a larger fridge, so the fan can't be operated without climbing onto a worktop.
I would like to replace the fan with a Manrose LP150STC, which has terminals for a switch on the live line, and bring...
Not specifically electrical, but best way to minimise condensation in a shower room. Asking for a customer.
Background.
Customer is a neighbour. Previous owners of house had broken through between a downstairs WC and a large cupboard and fitted in a shower cubicle.
There is an existing 4”...
Hi. Has anyone tried the Atoko Fan Select (ATQ6-03)? Its supposed to be an extractor fan timer so you can get delayed start and run-on using a standard fan. They say you can also override the delay and run-on by switching the light - does that really work?
