I am trying for months to install a Tachometer on a Yanmar 2GM20F.
The alternator is an Hitachi LR155-20 55A.
The gauge do a self test when turned on so it should be working.
When conecting directly from the alternator "W" wire to the gauge it shows full RPM.
Tried to switch the conections on...
Hi, I am getting a reading of 0.00MOhm
I've never had this before, it's not tripping the rcd.
I was wondering if it may be damp but can't see anything obvious.
Any ideas please?
It's not very old.
Hi All,
My colleague and I are currently doing PAT/ISITEE Testing, and we've hit a snag with a bit of equipment - we've got 19" Racks for our equipment that each have a Surge Protected Extension Lead mounted into them, they're Class I, and we test them on 250V. Earth Cont. and IEC Cont. are...
Hi all. I recently failed a section of my AM2E assessment. Passed 7/10 but failed on some silly things I'm confident of correcting second time round.
One thing that's got me is the 'Inspection & Testing' section. I failed every circuit with the following feedback
EARTH FAULT LOOP IMPEDENCE...
Just come across this on the web from a so called expert company: Most common items that fail an EICR, What Landlords need to know before booking! -...
Hi all
My Fluke tester failed on one test today while having it's annual calibration, the continuity resistance test current.
Test Current - applied Value 205.0mA
Measured Value 218.0mA
Specification+- 10mA
So a fail from the calibration company because it was 13mA. However I read ( on Line )...
Hi,
I perform annual PAT checks for my company (office and workshop). The Apollo 400 machine we use has recently gone for calibration and service and since it's come back, items which passed easily last year (Earth Continuity below 0.1ohm), are now not passing. I've now raised the earth...
I'm moving a socket installed on a lighting circuit (installed by previous owner who was a professional electrician so I assume he knew what he was doing). The socket is used only used for a lamp which is controlled by a wall switch.
I've installed new/moved sockets previously and always check...
I’ve been in the Fire and Security Industry arounf 3 years now and have my qualifications. I was given an Install of a Panel change and Keypad and Speaker.
Now our so called supervisor of 30 years said it’s only half a day. Long story short it was a full day. Lots of issues, took a whole day...
A 13-year-old GFCI kitchen receptacle went bad, so I replaced it with a new one I bought from Lowe's (Eaton model TWRSGF20). After one day, this one failed as well (the red dot is flashing with the yellow dot solid which, according to the manual, means it needs to be replaced). I cannot reset...
Finished my AM2 the other day, pretty confident with most of it except the testing.
When I done my live polarity, Ze and PFC tests for some odd reason I kept the padlock on the lock off. So whilst doing the tests I had to faff around getting the probes into the terminals as the pad lock was in...
Hi, recently had an EICR test done by 'Landlord Certificates' which failed due to circuite 3 having two radial circuits into a single 32amp MCB, they advised splitting it into two 20amp MCB's and quoted £174 including EICR certificate. The Electrian appears to have simply taken out the 32amp...
Hi
A professional electrician installed power to an outside greenhouse about 6-7 years ago. The supply has very recently developed a recent RCD tripping fault. By process of elimination, the overwhelmingly likely place for the fault is a N-E leak in a Prysmian Resin Cable Joints between two SWA...
I am PAT testing a very old 2100W Belling tabletop cooker that the customer is keen to keep & paying me to repair. It fails a L-E or N-E IR test at 0.46 M ohms.
Internally the cooker uses bare rods rather than cable.
I replaced the old cable & plug and L-N I get > 1999, but L-E or N-E still...
I am a landlord and my managing estate agent just recently organised an electrician to carry out EICR. Came back as unsatisfactory, no RCD protection on: lights, smoke alarm, door bell and immersion heater. There is RCD protection on sockets and cooker. Electrician suggests changing the...
This is just a note about LED bulb failure. We had a desk lamp in which the A19 LED bulb would only go on after flipping the switch several times. In fact, once on, it would turn itself off after a few hours and then mysteriously pop back on. Ah, no sweat. Power cord is just not secure. I...
Hi guys and girls,
I recently failed part of my AM2 assessment on the cat5 data part of all things! Any help would be much appreciated.
Problem is I don’t know where I went wrong. Here’s a quick run down.
Cable installed in top or bottom of dado with the plastic bridge fitted where it...
Hi all, I done my am2 and passed everything except testing and inspect, i failed on Zs (earth fault loop impedence). It says I did not correctly obtain the value in accordance to guidance note 3, but I did zs=ze+r1+r2. Just wondering if anyone knows where I could have gone wrong?.
Thanks.
