I have a split MEM2000 board (15+ years old) with four circuits each with MCBs protected by a single 100A 30ma RCD.
The RCD has been tripping out over the last 4 days at increasingly more frequent intervals (initially evry 6-8 hrs now it holds for about 30mins)
It trips with the mcbs on the...
recently saw some "click" c/u advertised at a bargain price at a large local dealer, bought 2 and thought about a bit of extra profit on next job....great. installed one in cumbria (60 mile drive), when i came to test the rcd, it would not trip, either on test button or test instrument. well, i...
Any ideas on a system to notify a client if the power trips off? Ideally a call or sms to their mobile. It's to avoided wastage of chilled/frozen foods.
Hi everyone,
I have a fault on an industrial extract fan unit in a plantroom.
The unit consists on 2 fans, a pcb mounted on the side and an isolator. The fan is linked to a trend bms system.
When the fan unit is switched to hand on the control panel, one of the fans runs for about 5...
I am trying to find other people adversely affected by the failure of Royal Mail's Special Delivery "service" to deliver a FIT application to EDF prior to the 3 March 2012 deadline. I would appreciate hearing from any one in this position.
Hi !
I have installed 2 new circuits to a fuseboard (lighting + ring main) for an extension and upon testing have discovered that both the RCD's on the split load board have failed.
Can you still issue a cert with these failures noted or do you have to get them sorted before a cert is issued?
good day guys,
I badly in need of your comments with regards to electrical protection system. The issue took a place when we tried to run a motor with rated power of 600 KW, 13.8 KV and rated current of 30 Amps. This motor fed from ABB switchgear with tow incomers and normally closed bus tie...
Hello all, this is my first post on any forum so please forgive any ineptitudes. I'm a relatively recently qualified electrician and have encountered a single phase /split phase 3 wire installation for the first time. This installation is fed through a three phase board containing mccb's...

What is the correct way of carrying out RCD tests on RCBO protected circuits that have no socket outlets, e.g. lighting, alarms, immersion heaters, etc?

Hi can anyone tell me why my intruder alarm external siren keeps sounding when I turn the power off in my house? Surely this shouldn't happen ? Cheers.
Don't really have any experience in PV and very keen to learn all I can, today in a loft I saw the inverter with the failure light blinking, the home owner says they don't think it's working...
Any advice on the next steps to take?
Hi, are there any reasons apart from faulty RCD that can be tested and what sequence of tests should I follow ?
I have a 100amp main switch with two MCB protected lighting circuits, and then a BS EN 61008 80a 30ma RCD with two 32a sockets circuits, a 16a heater circuit and a 6a security alarm...

We are on a 600VAC delta system. There is this one motor that runs a saw arbour. The motor is 200hp, 1800 rpm, 189 FLC. We run the feeders through 400:5 CTs and the secondary on the CT's to a eutectic overload device which is set to 2.4 amps which should make the overload current value for...

My client has half his upstairs lights working and half not. They are all on the same 5A fuse. His loft is boarded and so it's not easy to see the cable runs. What is the most likely cause? Is it likely to be a disconnected live or disconnected neutral in one of the ceiling roses that...
