I priced a job the other day and priced low as i had a few days free, part of it was to change the board, i didnt say anything about faults to the customer before i started but there is an open circuit in ring, neutral, i said id have a quick look in the back of the sockets for anything obvious...
I'd appreciate any suggestions on this one. Went to job that was "socket not working" and quickly found loose neutral - owner had installed new faceplate.
Fixed the neutral problem, however, when testing I got a very high ELZ reading at that socket - this must have been an existing problem...

I was wondering if someone who has done this exam would be able to tell me what certain faults will have on the test results. I don't have a job and have to do this exam in a couple of weeks and while I know how to test I am feeling very unprepared for it.
I know that doing CPC check will...

More and more machines where I work are being wired using Profibus. So that the PLC CPU is connected to remote I/O units by this type of 2 wire shielded cable.
Occasionally a machine will go into fault and a Bus fault (BF) LED will be lit on the CPU. This usually means that we have to...

OK just kidding, but shouldn't the 17th edition have gone further and stated that all circuits will be protected by RCBO's?
You can now buy an RCBO for a tenner.
While I am having a rant lets do away with the ring main -...
