Hi All,
Not sure I'm in the right place, but I'm looking for help/advice on what I think is an electrical problem.
We recently remodeled our kitchen, which included many new wiring runs. In addition, a new electrical panel was installed.
After all the work was completed and we settled into...

Is there a way to visually tell a faulty teleswitch as in the following pic? Is there a way they can fail 'closed', so that Off peak is always enegised?
Quoting on a small job for an elderly couple today, who also asked while I was there about their Economy 7 as their bill had recently gone...
Hi
I don’t know how resolve this so any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated. I have no electrical knowledge. I will try to be as clear and detailed as I can.
I’ve got a Bosch washing machine that’s two-and-a-half years old. Until early June, the machine has been flawless. But in June...
Hi lads,
I have a Megger 1552. I didn't really use it in the last couple of years. I was planning to get more into testing again, so sent it for calibration.
Unfortunately, it failed. I was told it requires a new side socket where the test leads plug into the tester. As the tester is old...
My wife has an old Singer sewing machine, model number 327K that has now run into problems.
The problem is that as soon as you plug it in it starts to run without using the foot pedal.
I have read some articles on the internet where they say that the problem has been solved by simply removing...
Hello. We are doing a refurb for an elderly lady and her family. Its a Victorian house. the local network has said it will upgrade fuse to 80A or 100A depending on capacity etc. she needs more power due to electric showers, stair lift, and our electrician will upgrade tails. But there is a...
Hi All, thanks for any advice.
I fitted some spike lights about 12 months ago in a customers garden and also some in my own (14 in total). Last October customer phoned to say lights were tripping RCD and when I investigated it turned into a nightmare. It was my fault partly because I...
I have a double wall socket in the loft that isn't working, its directly above the control panel and switch for the underfloor heating in the bathroom on the floor below. It doesnt work whether this is switched on or off.

Hi folks, new DIY member here. Currently (no pun intended ...) working on my new (old!) house; I've replaced a few sockets (in existing locations), but I've recently experienced a problem on a circuit (16A radial - this is the only socket on the radial directly from the CU, via a 30 A junction...
I have a 6 bulb ceiling light. Just recently when i switch it off at the wall only 5 bulbs go out. Is this more likely to be a faulty light fitting or switch?
I have an electrical socket that hasn't worked since we moved into our unit (4 years ago). I finally decided to take a look and see what was going on.
The outlet has a very low voltage coming into it... about 4V according to my multi-meter. I tested the wires coming into the outlet box and I...
I have a circular fluoro light, 40 watts. It just stopped working today, but then at other times during the day it would come back on. Thinking it was a faulty bulb i put in another bulb (admittedly i don;t know how old it is). Now with the other bulb the light does the same, sometimes it works...
Just done a little kitchen rewire, onto the testing, minor works.
Dead tests are fine, all ok. Power on.
Tried to do ELI... main rcd trips. Check tester, set to no trip... strange. Screen comes up with “trip”
Tried rcd test. Again, trips with same message... doesn’t give me a ms reading. Tried...
Hi, I've just purchased a 2 gang no neutral smart switch, however I was sent 3 gang. I thought i'd use it anyway. When i connected the common(S) to "L" & Switch live "L1" & "L3", nothing happened, switch didn't light up, lights didn't come on. My current switch operates 2x lots of led down...
Hello,
We moved into a new property 5 months ago and there is an extractor fan in the bathroom that has never worked. This weekend I decided to have a crack at fixing or replacing it. I'm new to DIY so bear with me here!
Firstly, there is no isolator switch for this fan as far as I can tell...
Some clever Sparks will be able to tell me from experience, how long after the original install in a new build (NHBC) should I still be liable to replace any items (led light fittings, extractor fans, etc) without charging for replacements ?
Hi , Any ideas why my electric aqualisa shower stopped working pls? If I go up to the loft and flick the white button on and off just once the shower works for a little while. Then stops again . Thanks . A
