Customer complaining of flashing lights - lights have been working for years but now something strange is happening.
Lights are low energy lamps and LED deck lights. Lights flash periodically.
Have initially investigated and have detected 12V on the circuit (disconnected from the supply). I...
Ghost busters????
This is great. I get to look like a right wally in front of customer over this one for a while! "Can you come and look at my lights? Something strange is happening." "Er? OK. See you soon". Alls well. I arrive and get given cup of tea. All nice and normal. "Come and look at...
Just a quickie, we've installed loads of Landis & Gyr 5235B generation meters but the last one I did alternately displayed an 'r' alongside a 0 kWh reading and then a 't' alongside the PV generated reading.
I guess it's a twin-rate display or some such thing; is that to be expected (and ignored)?
Folks,
Fitted a bank of 6 LED lights last week....3 x 4W lamps on 2 x 15W LED drivers. When I powered up they flash on and off. Taking them down to one LED lamp per driver they light normally.
I'm guessing that the flashing on/off is an under-power issue? Should a 15W driver be able to...

I consider myself a fairly experienced electrician for my age (22), qualified to 2330, nvq3, am2, 2391 (with a more industrial background) but my domestic fault diagnosis is fairly limited so would appreciate any comments/help on the following situation.
I've come across a single pendant...
Does anyone know how I can flash the house lights when the telephone rings.I have wired an extra switchwire to each switch and connected the two feeds into l1 & l2 with the light switch wire into the common. My problem is what type of relay do I use to switch them and how to I get it to switch...
Hi Everybody,
Has anyone encountered 'flashing' sockets before? A client has a problem with plug in appliances in that when the socket outlet switch has been turned off, and the item removed an electrical spark/arc occurs?
Any ideas about this oh wise ones?
Thanks
I have just achieved mcs accreditation and have been asked to install a system on a slate roof. I am aware that some installers drill the slates and use sealed bolts to fix the mounting rails, I'm not overly keen on drilling someones slate roof and was wondering weather there is an alternative...
My DNO installed a new meter last April. When I came to read it today the display is flashing between the figures and 'rEd'. Is this a meter fault and should I report it?
The meter is a Landis & Gyr Type 5235A.
Working in a house today and noticed when I isolated the CU at the main switch the digital display on the seeboard meter started flashing (every LCD sector in the numbers, so '888888888' etc) - also a red LED was flashing.
I seem to remember it did this last time I was there and so it must...

Hi all. In my daughters bedroom I noticed that after turning out her light it kept flashing (almost exactly every 4 seconds). This goes on for some time (more than 2 hours, got bored of checking it after that), not a bright flash but annoying enough. I changed the CFL for one in another room (to...
