I have an at my local scout group. They have employed a company to sand & varnish their hall floor. the company is using a couple of Lagler Hummel machines 230v 50Hz each requiring a 16A supply. (as a screenshot).
A 16A fused socket has been connected to the hut ring main (by replacing a...
Hi All
3rd floor flat has incoming supply via Conduit which was being used as the earth. Conduit at some stage has failed leaving the property with no suitable earth.
Would it be necessary to run a new sub mains and renew the supply also or is it within the regulations to run a separate...
Two flats, I live on ground floor, neighbours have just moved out from upper floor flat, lived there over 20 years. Spoke to new owner last weekend about possible issue with electricity could they check empty flat. Issue concerns high electricity bill, whereas previous owner paid half for their...
...fortunately not connected to anything!
The black one with the red stripe has conductors consisting of 3 strands, each about 0.75mm diameter which seem to be copper. with some other metal coating. (or maybe I'm imagining the reddish glint on the cut ends...). Insulator in terrible...
I'm a bit out of touch re 18th edition.
Is it really necessary to fit loads of additional metal saddles inside trunking when it's only 400mm above the concrete ground floor of a sports hall?
All the stuff about premature collapse makes sense, but where, in this case, if the cable going to...
In a communal electric intake room for flats (meter room) there is lots of bonded trunking and tray, also the metal door frames were found to have extraneous parts linked to earth , these have now been bonded.
They have now fitted a metal floor , i have not conducted a IR test to earth as yet...
Has anyone seen any of these last more that five years?
Even then the work involved in resolving issues becomes crazy expensive.
I think these are mostly specified by architects and no sane Spark would suggest them.
Here's some I had the misfortune to be asked to "get working", yeah right...
My daughter has ground floor flat, there are four flats on each floor. The consumer Units for each flat are located just outside each flat in the communal hall way, Is this against the Regulations?
Just been to a customer's who has just had LVT type flooring installed on top of under floor heating.
Unfortunately now whenever its turned on, it trips the RCD. So seems the floor fitters have damaged an element.
Its in 2 sections, one reads 50ohm, the other is open circuit. So defiantly...
When looking for the height of Zone 1 above a shower, we typically look at the diagrams which show 2.25m above floor level, with no Zone 2 above (although some variants of the zone diagram on various websites do show a zone 2 above a shower).
The text however (under 702.32), says Zone 1 is...
Hi,
As per...the top floor lighting is all gone - i've tested and changed fuses on every part of the box and I cannot get the lights back on.
Bulbs changed for ones I know 'work' too.
What has happened?
(if wrong forum sorry)
Hello guys, I have 300 holes to be cut for floorboxes in raised floor tiles(office type) Steel cover with chipboard inside.
We are used to cut the tiles with Jigsaw but after some cutting jigsaw always the cuts become at an angle and not staight..
So the question is what would be the best...
The more I learned about home electricity, the more paranoid I become about outlets in my home.
First, in my 40+ yrs old home, ALL outlets are 9 inch above the floor surface (measured from the floor to the lowest edge of the outlet), including garage outlets. I just learned that NEC requires 12...
Would it be acceptable to use Wago 224 connectors to join a cable that powers an underfloor heating mat that has been damaged?
The mat is powered via a thermostat that is connected to a fused connection unit fitted with a 13 amp fuse.
The wire feeding the mat is 1.0mm2.
I see Wago call the...
Hey guys, I seem to have come to the right place! I just got a tall floor lamp second hand. It has a main light and an adjustable second. They're both dimmable. The second light works, which is just a 50w capsule bulb. The main light, however, seems more complicated. Anyone got any ideas...
Hello! I need to install 2 new outlets in my living room — an 1887 brick home that we are gradually remodeling. I don't want to do any surface mounted boxes b/c of the historic aesthetic. So I see my options as:
Floor outlets recessed into the hardwood floors, or
Wall outlets recessed/chiseled...
Hello,
I'm about to start a complete house refurbishment, including rewiring and insulating between floors.
As I understand it building regs require you to drill holes through the center of joists 0.25-0.4 along the span of the joist - this is going to put my cable run ~75cm away from the...
I have a heating system that will have ufh and standard heating upstairs. There is a motorised valve on the heating system but the plumber hasnt put one on the ufh. My issue is is that wen i call the ufh on both turn on . Ive been told to put a put a relay or contactor on them but i cant get my...
What is your view about such an installation technique? Asked to finish extension wiring and the installer has snaked wire all over the floor in white flexi. They intend to put an island in and this could easily lead to damaged cables. The other wiring for lights etc. is abysmal like a massive...
Hi
I am building an annex in my rear garden.
Unfortunately the electrician has not fitted the sockets at a distance 450mm from the floor.
As I understand the 450mm distance is for new builds would an annex constitute a new build.
Please advise
Thanks
