Hi everybody.
I have a question (still learning, passed 17th edition and part P, but I'm not yet registered).
If you use formula from On-Site Guide p.140 what the design current you put in the formula, to calculate max length of cable for 11.5V.
If 32amp then the maximum length of ring final...

Hi everyone, Currently studying level 3 2330 and struggling with some of the formulas. Having took 4 year out from level 2 to 3, I have forgotten quite a few formulas from level 2 which are creeping into level 3 for eg power factor. I'm in the process of making a formula book which has been...
Im new on the site and just starting my level 3 2330, i would like to get up to scratch with the formula and need some help. Im in bournemouth please get back to me if anyone local would be willing to help, thanks Max
Hi guys. Studying for my 301 and I'm not getting the transformer formula.
Vp/Vs = Np/Ns = Is/Ip
Then it keeps going on to say we can then transpose this to get....
Vs = Vp x Ns / Np
We also get Np = Vp x Ns / Vp
How are they using the first formula to get the others?
Please help. Thanks...
Not got my reqs or on site guide with me today could some one explain or show me an example to work out earth size 230v supply ze = 0.12 customer been told about calculation rather than need to upgrade earth system and i cant remember formula or how to do it thanks in advance lads
HI, all let say....
i have connected load 20,000W = 20kW...
I calculate ampere from this formula p=vi(1.732)(0.8)
by the help of this formula i got my breaker size......
but i confuse that how would i get my generator size.......?
plz help me about that....
thanks advance.......:tounge_smile:
Here's a little 'Formula Wheel' with some of the more common Power/Voltage/Resistance/Current formulas.
Might be handy to keep in the back pocket for anyone learning or forgetting!
Hi all
I’m in the middle of my level 3 and having problems with one particular formula.
The question is: 1.5Kw heater with a resistance of 0.5 ohms. What is the current drawn?
Can anyone help me with the formula and some examples please?
Thanks
Tom
Sat the 17th last night and this question came up, i had a stab at it and i beleive the answer is .....Zs = Ze+R1+R2 however i still cannot find it in the regs book.
Can anyone point me to the reg number
Cheers
Hi all,
Just running through the "Photovoltaics in buildings guide - 2nd edition", as you do, and can't get my head around the string cable requirements.
p 16, 2.1.5 says:
"For a system of N parallel connected strings, with each formed of M series of connected modules, string cables are to...
Hi Guys
Quick one for you.
A cable that is 25M long and has a resistance of 2.3 m ohms/M ( milli ohms per metre ). A second Identical cable is to installed in parallel with this conductor. What is the total resistance of the two conductors connected in parallel?
1st conductor: 25 x 2.3 =...
Hi, i am confused about how voltage drop is worked out and need an answer for the following please;
Work out cable size and cpc size you need when you have:
Cable length = 50 metres
Ib = 32Amps
to get a voltage drop that complies with regs i.e. below 5%(11.5 Volts).
It's wired in singles and...
hi im struggling with volt drop , the circuit is 6mm 2core swa , run under ground , 220M long ,supplying a transformer charging batterys for a gate system rated at 5A.
Can anyone help me and give me the formula for the calculation? Thanks:confused:
Hi
Was wandering if someone could help, I'm a first year level 2 student and we have just started calculations and I'm stuck on a couple:
1. Calculate the thickness of an aluminium busbar 60mm by 12m long which has a resistance of .000946 ohms (given that aluminum has a resistivity of 2.84...
