Hi Chaps,
Quick and simple question I'm sure for most of you:
Is there a minimum distance from a door frame for a light switch?
Was measuring up today and have marked them up 150mm from the doors.. Purely with safe zones in mind (I know this isn't a safe zone)
Thanks
just looking at a 50kW on a corrugated metal roof on a steel frame. It is crinkly tin, not trapezoidal, with some insulation sheeting underneath. The only fixings recommended so far are Schletter Fix E but they look fiddly to install and am yet to fins a uk supplier with some in stock.
Can...
Came across an install today neat job but the array frame had been bonded back to the MET on a TNC-s system, in these cases i usually take down to a stake or to the MET in a TN-s,
What would the actual implications of this be in reality other than not by the book? I cant think of a scenario it...
As im new to self employment and domestic work having spent 20 years paye based on shop re fits, ive been to look at a empty 5 victorian bed house re wire, all chased out and made good over 3 floors with a basement, i was thinking about 2 weeks for man and mate any of you experinced re wirers...
Guys
In the DTI Guide 3rd Edition Bonding Decision Tree it shows that the PV array frame of Class II panels should be bonded to earth if it is an extraneous conductive part. The defintion of an extraneous conductive part being that it can introduce a potential, normally an earth potential. In...
Sorry to raise this question again. What are you guys getting on your DC IR test's on new installs? I've been doing some DC IR testing on Fronius 3.6 IGTL inverters and they are coming back as 50-100M ohms which is fine as far as DTI guide says, but not what I was expecting ie >999M ohms type AC...
Hi all.
Have always kept clear of transformer less inverters due to the need to bond the array however we are about to install several SB3600-TL's as they are predicting great yields etc.
How have you guys gone about bonding the array etc? Any special bonding clamps/fixings due to location...
Posted in here as I can't post in the Alarms section, basically I am trying to source a wired domestic burglar alarm for a mate of mine with the following:
1. 3 x PIR Zones
2. 3 x Door magnets
3. 1 x remote key pad
4. Activation auto dial (to ring/text a programmed mobile telephone number with...
Having read the draft PV guide edtion 3 out for review, I see very little instances where you would earth or bond an array frame.
I appreciate there are instances where you should but these seem quite rare reading the new guidline, even with transformerless inverters.
is anyone still earthing...
Hello!
I am putting in a 4Kw ground mount scheme with a TL inverter and I can't make sense of the DTI earthing tree. Framework to be of unistrut construction, and effectivley insulated from tera firma by concrete.
The main incomer is PME, and if I follow the DTI tree, the end result is that I...
We, like many suppliers, are up against it timewise to install a field-based 16 panel pv array. The main problem is to find Uk stocks of the aluminium extrusions designed to build a panel support framework
Our original German supplier needs 2 months which rules it out.
Any suggestions ?
Hi
I just wondered how other installers are earthing array frames. At the moment we are bolting onto the rail (and following the DTI earthing decision tree)
Does any use bracing bars between rails? Do any of you use a smaller csa (than 10mm) for TNS systems?
Hi,installed a 3 phase board in a commercial premises...took the earth bond off the metal frame work of the building to test its continuity, all other tests give very good readings, the only test that could be looked at as being suspisious is the pscc and efli values, because L1 is giving a very...
Hi all,
Quick question on earthing.
I am installing solar panel on 2No farms.
1st farm is metal shed, it it is a PME supply. I have bonded the array frame to the building structure (didn't see the need in separate spike).
2nd farm is a wooden shed, metal roof. Again a PME supply. I have...
Just browsing the installation manual for the Hyundai panels (on the Segen site) and noticed they can be clamped on the short side. That is I think unusual, but could be useful where you want landscape panels without the extra work of a cruciform. Only an hour to go to Spooks....
hi all, got a customer, landlord really who has various slate roof propertie,s wants to put panels on them but will only claim fit, therefore cheap and cheerful suggestions please and suppliers if poss,, its in your hands
thanks
Hi guys,
Anybody got any ideas re running the frame bond? Running a 10mm green yellow will look unsightly.
I wondered if anyone uses the armouring of the swa. Or if anyone used a black 10mm singles?
Open to other sensible suggestions.
Thanks - itty
Hi All,
My assessor suggested there is no need for frame bonding if a TL inverter has electrical separation between DC and AC. This is news to me and wonder if he is getting confused RCD requirements, but he is adamant.
Anybody heard this? Is everybody bonding TL’s and including earth...
Obviously easier to wire than traditional builds but would be interested from those who have been doing them for a while if theres a "rough" figure to use to cross check pricing ie £25 pere switch £35 per socket, that kind of thing.
cheers
