Hey guys,
Im starting to put my company out there more. And this is all a new journey for me being an apprentice and now being qualified/2391-52 qualified as well.
I was speaking to a friend about how he would go about a board change which I don’t agree with.
tell customer a fixed price...
I was just about to book an EICR inspection for my property when the decorator said he didn't think the fuse board would pass. He said there was no RCD on the top board and partial on the bottom one. So rather than pay twice I was thinking of getting any potential work done first prior to the...
Hi,
I’d appreciate views on the fuse board.
https://ibb.co/xj0BtZt
It’s been completely rewired and I’m unhappy with the quality.
I’ve messaged him about it and described the board as a complete mess, and poor workmanship ship. For entry for the 25mm cables and 16mm tails he used the knock...
Hi
Weird problem.
I’m replacing plug sockets. I isolate the circuit for the particular sockets at the fuse board so it is safe to swap out. All good. Suddenly the RCCB for all sockets - not just the circuit of the sockets I have isolated - trips. Why is this happening?
The RCCB doesn’t trip...
Am I certified to sign off/do certs for a fuse board if I've completed my Level 2 and level 3 city and guilds (2365) electrical installation?
(have not done the regs yet or testing & inspection or the NVQ)
Hello
I live in a rental in scotland and have recently had an EICR carried out. I have an old fuse wire fuse board on a wooden plate with no rcd or breakers, I had assumed this would be a C1 or C2 but this came back as a C3. Surely this is incorrect if the plastic fuse boards are C3s surely no...
[EDIT 2056]
Sorry, I think I’ve got my wires crossed and OhMe haven’t been very helpful in detailing what I need to do/say to N-Power except for ‘not our problem’. It is indeed the big, green, metal box at the bottom that is the problem.
Good evening,
Today, I had someone out to install the...
What is everyones opinion about fridge magnets being used on a consumer unit? I understand edi-currents and that it’s not recommended, but is there solid reasoning why?
Just for some context, I work for a large housing association in the West Midlands UK completing the electrical safety...
Hi all, I am trying to work out why an outside light PIR trips the light in turn trips the whole fuse board inside the house.. When the PIR is disconnected then everything works fine. Anyone come across this before?
There is no moisture, all wires connected and ip66
Thank You
Hi all,
Hopefully picked the right place to post about this..!
I've just completed an EICR and there was a second board mounted to the water cylinder which does both the hot water and heating.
It's in an apartment (I'm assuming every flat will be the same).
I've told the landlord that I need...
Hi,
I just had a new 18th gen with surge protection installed. They disconnected the old cable and did a new run, the cert says 10 gauge was used but then I just had a different sparky who is looking to wire up my garage see it and say it should be 16.
Just wondering what is correct and should...
Hi guys,
my brother is building a bar in his garden that is timber framed and wants some power to it.
The main board in the house has a pme earth and there a no spare ways in the board. From this board there is a 4mm t+e on a 32amp breaker off the rcd side supplying a board in a little out...
a fuse carrier is broken in 6way mem board with no rcd protection , it makes sense to upgrade to rcbos like other boards in the installation..
My question is , I'm nearly certain there is borrowed neutral on the lighting circuits and he won't want a wire fitted from kitchen to landing to...
Dear all,
We want to install an electric car charger, but our existing fuse board is at the back of the house and running a cable through the house will make a big mess. The electricity enters the house from the front, where we want to put the charger and that's where the meter is too. Can we...
I was wondering, are BS88 fuse boards still used on some new installations especially industrial and even commercial. And if so would that be ok with the regulations or not because its not retrospective. I know they are quite outdated and its hard to find a electrical wholesaler selling BS88...
Hello everyone, This is my first post and I am looking for some good ,solid and honest advice. I'm a pretty confident all rounder (Carpenter by trade) but am reluctant to go in too deep on this one. I am hoping that your expertise and well earned knowledge could explain what for yourselves is...
Hi all, wondering if someone can clarify this or refer me to a regulation regarding using connector block inside a Consumer Unit, I have some cables that are being moved the the RCD section of the CU but are too short and there is no practical way to get more length without making a mess. I’ve...
