NAPIT Certification Scheme Is there a yearly NAPIT assessment?

Hi folks, been with NAPIT the last year, recently had an email saying my membership is due for renewal and the money would be taken soon, but no mention of a 2nd assessment in ANY email they have sent me reminding me of it.

Is there a yearly assessment and will my NAPIT be struck off if I dont call them to book?

I didn't get assessed this year. They took the fee in October 2022 and said they would visit within 4 months. They didn't. I wont be reminding them.

Just wait out for it, you’ll get a call off your assessor at some point. I’ve been over 18 months between assessments before.

I have heard some sparks go near 2 years between visits

As above wait long enough and they will contact you eventually

I have had an assessment appointment in March cancelled and moved to April. They told me that as the assessor is now doing three assessments per day my assessment will be a shortened version! I wonder if they note your competence when they first see you and accept that you really are OK and the annual assessment is just a formality/money making project.
I mean most times with STROMA and Napit and NICEIC (brief period with them) YOu just kinda know they look at your methods and work and clearly see you are competent and ok to pass. Especially when they come out with some of the assessees stories, like "One asked if he could google it, when I asked him to do a Ze" said the assessor! I mean with people like that they must be able to make a note somewhere between the clearly OK and the doubtful. Obviously they are overwhelmed with assessments is my opinion.

I think the reality is if you pass your initial assessment to join a Scam then in reality you tick the box. Why you need a fresh assessment ( site visit ) every 12-18 months is a bit pointless. I guess they do it simply to justify their £500 annual fee and keep the assessor in a Job?
Once in a Scam perhaps should get a site visit every 5 years just to make sure your work hasn't gone down the pan

I did wonder when I was in a Scheme, what changed from one year to the next. However, thats what this thing is all about, supposedly verifying someones competency. They get their money, and they should be doing the job they were tasked to do, and protecting the domestic consumer.

I had yearly assessments with the same assessor with stroma every year from about 2015 to 2019, and since they merged with NAPIT I've never been assessed?
in 2020 they said it would be cancelled which is understandable as there were lockdowns , but I expected by now they would resume as normal?

It's all -------s,just a money making scam.

They look at you qualifications: result they know your qualified. (Any issues later on they point back at you)

Obviously you have qualifications so you know about work regs, safe isolation, wiring regs ect (you get hurt or hurt anyone else they'll point back to you)

They look at your insurance: result they know your insured (YOU ---- up a job they point back at you)

They check your complaints procedures (I have no idea why but it sounds good)

One assessor asked me to carry out a RCD test (WTF) and left before the kettle had boiled

One assessor told me to stand in front of the consumer unit while he took a picture (apparently this proves I installed it WTF)

One --- asked me a question about 3 phase supply for a motor!!!! I answered him and asked him for a relevant question for single phase as that's what the visit is for!!????.

One --- took pictures of my certs, insurance ect and spent the next half hour telling me about his relationship woes. ( If his wife's reading this I don't blame you for leaving, he's a whining tart)

One --- asked me a question, I answered, he said I was incorrect, I proved I was correct did the maths and showed him the proof in the regs RESULT he shrugged and said "o yea" ticked his box and changed the subject.

One --- turned up, saw me in a garage with the front of a board off, came over, took a look at it ( no tests. No questions. No worries)
Looked at my installation certificate said everything looks good and left........ Great what's your issue you may ask?!?
This was not the job he'd come to inspect, while I was down the road waiting for him at the actual inspection job a neighbour asked me to look at her consumer unit, as she had recently had work done ( not by me) and could hear crackling coming from inside, so I took a look while I was waiting.
Not only was it the wrong address (easy mistake as I was standing there) but the board I installed had 8 RCBOs the one I was looking at was split between two RCDs!!!!????!?

Registration of a job though them is pointless and results in zero ---- all added quality or come back for the customer.
Just so long as they get your money and the general public assumes it's some sort of badge of honour or quality control alls good

If your fully qualified to carry out this work what the ----s the point of these ----ing con men?
if you have qualifications and they check them surely that's it. It's not like your knowledge of the job you do every ----ing day will deteriorate and you need these ----wits to check them every ----ing year

I've quite liked all my assessors.
Bar one of them they've all been decent people, just doing their job.
